Can anyone who has stayed at Windsor Hills tell me about this neighborhood and its location/pools/general info? How many minutes is it from WDW? Considering staying off property and renting a 2 or 3 bedroom. Thank you!

You can look at this website to see info on WH. http://www.windsorhillsrent.com/windsorhills.html
The pool is by the clubhouse and next to the condo buildings. Buildings #7 and #8 are closest to the pool but the rest are a quick stroll away.
WH is 2 - 3 miles from Disney's Animal Kingdom. You can be in the parking lot in less than 7 min. Magic Kingdom parking lot in less than 15 but it's another 20 to get into the entrance. DHS in 7 and Epcot in 10 -12 min.
Here's a map of the area. WH is #1

There are lots of restaurants within 5 min of WH. There's a Publix grocery and a Super Target about 7 minutes to the west on 192. Nice area .

We're here right now; third trip to WDW / staying at Windsor Hills. Every day we comment how quickly we get to the parks. I highly recommend staying here. Can't beat it for the price. Right now dh, ds and my mom are all asleep. I'm at the dining room table not disburbing anyone ... while washing a batch of laundry.

Thanks for the information! Is the Windsor Hills neighborhood pool open to everyone? Do you need a pass? We are thinking of renting a condo there.

Windsor Hills is a gated community so it is open only to those who are staying at windsor hills. It used to be that you go to the club house and put a $10 deposit down and they give you an access card for the pool. You then get your $10 back when you turn the card in at the end of the week. I think it might have changed now and I believe that they give you a code at the security gate when you check in. Either way, if you are renting at windsor hills you will have access to the pool.

Keith is correct. When checking in at the guard gate, we got access codes for the pool and playground. No deposits required.

Thanks for the info everyone! Just cancelled my reservation to stay on property and plan to stay off property at Windsor Hills to save over $1,000!! :)

To OP,
We were at WH in Nov/Dec 2011 and we had a great time. All the other posters are bang on. I can tell you after staying on property 6 times previously, it was very hard for us to think of having to go off property. We did it because it was DD at 1 and a half we wanted some flexibility for our "down days". The playground, pool, clubhouse and extra space in our 3 bedroom condo was outstanding (compared to Pop Century where we normally stay). I was blown away by how easy the drive was for all parks.

All the best for you and yours on your trip
