Hi all,

We have stayed at all the WDW DVC resorts except SSR. We are thinking of making a quickie trip down to the world when school gets out for just a few days. The only place we could get a 1BR is SSR. I am game to try, but I need to convince DH and DS (8). Can anybody tell me what the neat features of the pool are (that's the way to their hearts)? Also, for my own interest, can anybody break down the pro's and con's to the various sections, i.e. Congress Park, etc? If we get to go, I just wondered where would want to put a request in for? What are the rooms like near the main pool?

We love OKW and love a golf course view and quiet, but we also love to be near the main pool/food, etc.

Any input is helpful. Thanks!

DH & I did a tour of SSR last week and we love it! The pools look awesome and we can't wait to take our little guys. We put In a request to be be near the paddock pool but you might want to wait for more advice on that. I went on YouTube and watched a bunch of videos of the pools at SSR, they look WAY better than the pools at OKW IMO.

SSR actually has 2 feature pools with slides. You may prefer the newer, Paddock feature pool. (And there is some food, too)

If you take the bus to a park, they run;
Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, Congress Park, Springs.

Springs is the main area, but buses are often SRO by then.
Grandstand has the most golf course views. It has a fairly basic pool, but there is a pool bar for afternoon drinks/refills and a splash area for younger ones. 2 Grandstand buildings are closer to the main pool / dining than Springs. Grandstand is also closest to the DTD boat.
Carousel is kinda a distant wing of Paddock.
Paddock has the new feature pool / bar /food.
Congress Park has mostly DTD views and a beautiful, but basic pool with a DTD view, but its a bit of a walk to any eating...but if you like walking, Congress Park is closest to the DTD marketplace walkway.

Thanks for all your helpful posts and info. I am not sure where a good location for us would be--are requests usually granted at SSR or is it sort of hit or miss? We would have a car so bus isn't a concern. I need to do a little research on the pools on youtube! Do both pools have afternoon activities like at the main OKW pool (i.e. trivia contests, etc.)?

Gotta look at those pools so I can sell DH....

High Springs and Paddock both have games in the afternoon...quizzes, games, etc. They also take turns hosting the poolside movies in the evening (think drive in theater via chaise lounge). If you want "big" feature pools, the Paddock is probably the closest. High Springs has your basic twisty turn slide that shoots you out of a mountain. The Paddock I think is a bit more "wow." The walk to DTD, the Turf Club with its pool table, and a great community hall give you lots of things to do...oh, and bike rentals too.

Love my SSR!
