Hi! I will be staying at the Saratoga Springs from Jan 8 -15, I want to be close to Downtown Disney... Here are my questions:

1. Do they have fireworks every night at DTD?
2. How many stories do the resorts have (I want to be at the highest one)
3. How is the walk from the resort to DTD?
4. How is the transportation system to bring you to the parks?

It's my first time there, and any information about your stay will also be welcome. Thank you for your help! :goodvibes

1 - no - Disney cancelled the fireworks :guilty:

2 - I think 5 stories - but guests can only stay on 4 of them. the top is for service and the CM.

3 - depends upon which section from Congress house - it is around 5 minutes - to marketplace. (now if you are talking about DD West much longer)

4 - the transportation was fine. the only long wait was to DD - okay I was stupid the first couple of days....once I started walking back and forth no problems.

Thank's guys, I just found an other thread talking about SSR, so I will read on that one for suggestions etc... did any of you do a horse carriage ride from SSR? I can't wait to go there!

Was there in July. Had a great time. We loved it.

I was able to run every morning in DTD. Pretty cool to be there while they were cleaning the streets and it was empty.

We were on the 3rd floor of Congress Park. When walking to and from DTD the kids were fine even late at night.

I want to be at Congress Park now ha! ha! I want to walk to DTD! So I will request a room in Congress and a view on DTD. BTW how is the path to DTD, is it illuminated? :)

The path is not illuminated and there is a sign stating that it is only for use between dawn and dusk (of course, lots of people walk it at night anyway). We walked the path and took the bus or boat back after dark.

It was totally safe to walk the path at night time we did it several times while we were there......

Yes, the walkway to DTD is illuminated. There is a sort of nature walk off of the DTD walkway that is not lighted and is posted, "Do not use after dark". :thumbsup2

However, if you're walking back from DTD late at night, watch out for the SPRINKLERS. :furious:

OMG!!! Watch out on all the paths at night. DH and I were walking up the path by the pool to the Carriage House when we heard this strange hissing sound. We weren't sure what it was until the sprinklers popped up and we started getting wet!!

The babies loved it, we have never pushed them so fast! :rotfl:

Thank's guys... i can't wait to see this wonderful place... and I will watch for the sprinklers ha! ha! :goodvibes

SSR is our favorite....their bus systems was great last year. We just got back from using points at WL and the Poly. We watched many buses roll by us for SSR while we waited and waited for our Poly bus at MGM and AK. That's one really nice feature about SSR...they do not share buses with anyone so they are frequent in running in the parks.

have a great stay,
Esmerelda

Just a suggestion, but request Building 16 in Congress Park. That's where we stayed in July. It's also directly behind the quiet pool and the path to DTD! :sunny: DH and I walked it a couple of times during the day and it's a rather quick walk; maybe 10 minutes the most. And that's with me taking my time!!

Someone also mentioned the boat. It's a nice idea, but I read somewhere that it only runs once an hour during the day and then after 4:30 I believe every half hour. :confused3 If someone can clarify that I'd appreciate it. I think next trip I'd like to give that a try.

When we were there in May, SSR/OKW were waiting on 3 new boats. They plan to start running them every 30 minutes so there will be a continuous loop.

Just a reminder, there are no building numbers at SSR (yet), only room numbers.

:thumbsup2

If you mean "physically posted on buildings" then you're correct. However, the buildings are being called by their respective numbers. Upon check in back in July, the CM at the desk specifically said "you will be in building 16" and preceeded to show us where on the map it was. Granted the room number began with 16. But even when we got a "little lost" ;) we asked the young man at the bike rental booth where "Building 16" was and he pointed us in the direction.

Thank you, Ms. WDW and Esmerelda, I'm happy to read that the buses are efficient, since I will have to use them for 2 days out of my vacation, and I will request building 16 with a view of DTD and see what they tell me, I can't wait to take a walk to DTD to shop... :cool1:
