Hi, I wanted to post here since its geared towards families. My dh and I have been thinking about moving to the Orlando area for quite some time now. We would probably rent for a year or two before purchasing a home : what area good to bring up young children??? I know we will be taking home a lower pay than we are used to up here.......We have contacted local realtors and it seems that they are not "honest" about where the desirable areas are. BTW, It doesn't have to be directly in Orlando just somewhere close by. THanks

For a minute there I thought I had written the above. lovinpoohbear can I come with you. :worship: We too are from CT and have been talking for awhile about making the move. 2yrs. ago we almost made it. Be carefull when calling Real Estate brokers. When I had made calls on 2 houses I had seen online, I was first asked what state I was calling from. When I told them CT, the price they gave me was atleast 30 thousand above the price online. I said thank you and hung up. Called back the next day and said I was from a different state and was quoted the same price as what was online. I asked why when I had called the day before and said I was from CT was the price more. The lady on the other end laughed and said Mam everbody knows people in Ct have alot of money. :rotfl2: :lmao: She obviously didn't know my family. :rotfl2:

I have also been told the best time to by down there is in the spring when all the Snow Birds leave and some deside not to return.

Good Luck in your search pixiedust: ....Our goal is to be in the Sunny State by summer of 2008

Orlando is very large and has lots of traffic. Decide where you are going to work, and then look close to there. If your kids are going to public school, you can check them out online and get the grades and numbers. Even if your kids aren't ready for school or won't be going public, the school zone can really have an effect on your home values.

Renting first is a great idea. It will help you discover the different parts of the central Florida area and can keep you from making a mistake in a home purchase.
