DH and I would like to go to Niagara Falls for a weekend in August. What are some nice, but inexpensive, hotels? Anyone know where to look for the best deals, have hotel recommendations or know where I can discounted tickets to the attractions?

Thanks!:hippie:

we lived a couple of hours away(about 10 years ago), and drove up to Niagara. We went to a wax museum and to Marineland(we loved it,the rides weren't open in October, but we practically had the place to ourselves, like 30 people at the dolphin show),and we ate at Planet Hollywood.:goodvibes

I grew up and my parents still live 2 hours from the falls.

It all depends what you like to do....we always do Maid of the Mist (both sides), and Cave of the Winds (US side). I love both of these and consider them a must. If you are adults only there are Casinos (both sides) to have fun in...they are ok..nothing really fancy.

The canadian side has way more to do. They have an indoor water park for the kiddos...there are also many things on the "strip". Wax museums, Mazes, arcades etc. My mom always goes on a ladies trip up there and they shop at the outlets and eat lunch at the top of the tower.

They also have chain places as well as one of a kind places. Rainforest Cafe is there, along with Hard Rock. It is a place you can go and just pick what you want to do when when you get there.

All and all I feel it is a good place to visitat least once in your life...the falls are amazing.

Niagara Falls is a great place to visit, and August has great weather. However, it will be very busy (lots of people). Plus, expect to pay resort area prices (ie similar to Disney pricing for food/meals). It's a resort area, and they price accordingly.

For hotels, I find travelzoo.com (or travelzoo.ca) will advertise some good hotel rates in Niagara Falls. It's a little early for discounted hotel rates, bt in a month or so, so August discounts will be available (especially for mid week).

For discounted attactions, visit http://www.niagaraparks.com/ -- the adventure pass is a good option (we bought it, as it gave us good pricing).

Since you've been to both sides, is the view really that much more amazing from the Canadian side?
