Need Info on Burke, VA please :)

Hi All,

DH is in the military and we will be moving to the DC area this August. We lived in Alexandria VA about 9 yrs ago and haven't been back since. We heard some good things about Burke VA as a place to live and wanted to know if anyone here has info on the place. We are looking to rent a house, we don't have kid. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, it is good to know that they like it there. A friend of my DH's co-worker lives there and likes it as well and that is what got us looking into it. Since we are going to rent it make it little easier on us since we don't have to worry about resale, so it's more just quality of living we are looking at.

Hey my wife and I live in Alexandria near Burke. It's a nice area. Burke is more suburban. I really like living out in fairfax va. It's a very nice area. Lots of parks and bike paths (I'm a runner/triathlete). It's also nice to be out of the actual city. but there is still plenty around as far as restaurants, shopping, etc. If you have any more specific questions I'd be happy to help.

That sounds great, thanks for the info. Dh and I are more suburban, small town people. We currently live in a city with 15,000 folks so it is going to be tough adjusting to the hustle and bustle of the beltway again. We want a place where we can get away from it all at the end of the day.

Burke is a nice area. As you know, it is part of Fairfax County, VA, with one of the best school systems and affluency in the country. However, Burke is more "normal" and you will find normal homes, normal people, normal incomes there. It is very suburban and, in general, a nice place to live. I don't really think you'll hear a bad thing about it.
