Need info on boats between MK and FW

We would like to take a boat from the MK to Ft. Wilderness for the HDDR (7:15pm show) on a night when the MK closes at 7pm. I realize we'll need to leave the MK prior to park closing, but what time should we leave to get there on time? And can we catch the boat back to the TTC (or is it the Poly??) after the show so we can get back to our car in the MK lot? Or should we just drive to FW??

Not sure how early you'll need to leave the MK. The boat ride itself isn't very long...maybe 12-15 minutes? But if the crowds are heavy, you might have to wait. I'd probably leave by 6:30 but I tend to be conservative with time. I'd rather get there early and wander around FW than be late for the show.

There is no boat directly to the TTC from FW and I imagine the MK boat from FW might have stopped running by the time your show let's out. BUT there is a bus that runs from the settlement to the TTC. You could park at FW at the beginning of your day but that parking is at the entrance to the campgrounds and you would have to take a bus from there to the docks to catch a boat to the MK. So I would park in the MK lot, do MK, take the boat to FW and a bus back to the TTC at the end of your day.

Thanks for posting, BCV23. I like the idea of the boats from the MK to FW so we don't have to mess with the ferry/monorail, tram, then driving, then the internal FW bus, etc. Could you tell me though, is there a bus from Pioneer Hall to the TTC, or will we have to take a bus to the front of FW and transfer to another bus to the TTC?

Yes, there is a direct bus from the area of Pioneer Hall to the TTC. As you exit Pioneer Hall, turn right and walk down the path...with many other people! You can't miss it. There are signs explaining which bus to take and you can always ask the drivers, too. I believe the whole area is called the Settlement or something like that.
