We are thinking of doing B2B cruises on the Dream this summer. Wondering if someone who has done this can offer some tips. If we have the stateroom for both cruises, do we have to remove our luggage? Do we have to leave the ship? Etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have not completed one, but did do some research on them about a year ago. Here's what I remember in my research of the process at Port Canaveral

If you have the same stateroom, you do not have to remove your luggage.
You do have the leave the ship and go through customs.
However, once through customs, you will be able to immediately reenter the terminal through the main entrance and go through security.
Once in the terminal you be escorted to the concierge / platinum lounge.
You will be able to reboard the ship earlier than even the concierge guests.

I'm sure I missed something, but that's my understanding of the flow.

We've done a B2B on the Dream and that pretty much sums it up.

If you do change staterooms, your host will move your luggage for you.

We did a B2B that the turnaround day was Port Canaveral. No, if you are in the same room, you won't have to pack your bags for the second leg. You will need to get off the ship between cruises (be sure to bring your ID and something to keep yourself amused).

While we were allowed to board prior to Concierge, it was just before Concierge (as in first us, then them). We were required to be off the ship by 9:00 and did not reboard until 11:10.

We did a B2B on the Dream this past May. As previously mentioned you only need to take passport with you off the ship. We disembarked at 9:30 and the line was crazy getting off the ship. We were back onboard around 10:30.

just completed a b2b. you must bring your id with you as well as your documents for the second cruise. you must register again in order to reborard. it is a new cruise. there will be a notice in your room to inform you what you need to do so don't worry about not having information, its quite easy.
our notice said we would not be able to reboard until at least 11:00, to plan accordingly. this was in bold. i can tell you that 11:00 was pretty much right on when we boarded.

On our b2b there were a lot of us so they had us all wait in studio sea until everyone else got off the ship and then they escorted us together off the ship through customs.

The only definite about how a B2B is handled is that you will receive a letter in your room telling you what your process will be.

On our Med/TA B2B there were over 300 of us, so we were told to meet at Rockin' Bar D onboard. We were escorted off the ship as a group once everyone else was off, and then we checked in, waited about 5 minutes and were allowed to reboard.

Typically, if there are a lot of B2B people, they will have everyone meet and go off as a group. But, when there aren't that many, the letter will tell you to be off the ship (individually) by X:XX am.

We just got a B2B in Miami and were pleased with how quick the process was. We were told to meet in Fathoms when the last and final all ashore as announced (about 9:00). There were about 25 of us and after we filled about our customs declaration form, the customs officials escorted us off the ship, through customs where they checked our passports and collected the forms then back upstairs via an elevator. We were the only ones in the terminal and immediately checked back in and got our new KTW cards. We then waited about 10 min and were then allowed back on. The whole process took about 30 min max. We went to Cove Cafe and got coffee and then I went back to the room to shower and DH wandered the ship. I know PC is different than Miami but our experience was fast.

We did a B2B on the Dream out of PC. There was only 2 families doing a back to back, us and a family of three. We were sailing concierge both times and received a letter saying to disembark at 8:30am. The crew members actually advised us to stay on board until last call which didn't end up being until 9:30am . We were the last off the ship and then the first back on board. We didn't take anything off the ship except our passports/documents, phones, iPad and camera. It took us 30 minutes to get through the customs line and when we got there, we were waved through since we were on a back to back and had nothing to declare. We went straight back up into the terminal and could check straight in. No other cruisers were in the terminal yet. We used the time to take some photos around the terminal, make pressed pennies, make a phone call before we were asked to wait in the concierge lounge in the terminal. The other family wasn't sailing concierge but they were also in the lounge area in the terminal. We received a special card which we had to present on re boarding. Boarding was very fast. There was no photographers there yet and no one to announce us boarding. We just walked straight back onto the ship. We were back on board by 10:30am. We had already spoken to our house keeping staff and they did the deep clean on the Castaway Cay day. They already had our room ready and we were told we could access our room once we boarded again. The concierge lounge was closed until midday. We were told we were free to roam around the ship and it was fun to watch what goes on during turn around. The cafe in the adult area was open. We had many crew members approach us for a chat. It was like having the ship to ourselves (for about an hour)

A few downsides to doing B2B.

- You'll have the same or similar rotations of shows. For us this was perfect as we love the shows we were very happy to watch them twice.
- You'll have the same menus for both cruises, unlike a longer cruise where each night is different.
- Most entertainment is similar on both cruises. An example would be trivia questions are the same on both cruises.
- You'll need to do the lifeboat drill twice. It's mandatory for every sailing.
- You technically waste half a day between disembarking/reboarding and lifeboat drill.

A few upsides of doing a B2B

- You can relax more without trying to fit everything into one sailing. You can catch the show next sailing, or see it the first time around and skip it the second time around. Swim, nap, go Palo, visit the spa. We spent a full day at Castaway the first cruise and the second time we only spent a few hours there and reboarded a very quite ship to enjoy the empty pool. If you're visiting the same ports, you can fit in twice as much as you'll visit twice. Or you can stay on the ship one day and enjoy the ship facilities.
- Since there was so few of us sailing a B2B, we found many of the crew remembered us and loved to have a chat
- Knowing you get to stay on the ship while everyone else is leaving. We really enjoyed the last night of our first cruise as we weren't sad to be saying goodbye. Our last night of the cruise is usually a little tear filled. We never want to leave!

If you have the same state room, you don't need to pack. You can leave the room as it is. If you're changing, you pack your bags and leave them in the state room. The crew will move your bags to the new room once you've disembarked.

When you disembark, don't forget to take any documents and ID/Passports. You will need to check in as normal so you'll need identification.

I hope that helps you out!

we have ours booked with the Dream in 2017... we have the same stateroom booked - question for those with this experience -
Do you have to wait like everyone else until 1:30 to access your room or can you access your room right away if you have the same room?

Typically, depending how long the time difference is from when you reboard until the "new" cruisers board, you can access your room. Once the new cruisers start boarding DCL usually asks that you either: 1) remain in your room until all rooms are ready; or 2) stay out of your room until all rooms are ready. That way there are no "But I saw THEM cross the barrier to get to their room" issues.

Ahhh ok , so staying in the room is doable, but just not leave due to the inevitable crossing the barrier drama... gotcha.. ok I'll be sure to ask if the option to stay in the room until after the barriers are taken down is doable, thanks!

We just booked our first B2B cruise! It's on the Magic in January out of Miami. We have the same stateroom for both cruises and I hope the process goes as smoothly as everyone says.

Another question for previous b2b'ers - were you able to go back later to the photo area to take another boarding picture once the photographers showed up? I think we would like to get that second boarding picture if possible - yes we are crazy about pictures! :) We're doing a b2b on the Magic out of Miami.

I don't think the photographer's were there yet when we went back on. If you waited you could get a photo again, I suppose.

You do get a deal on the photo cd. I believe the 2nd cruise was half price. Also, if you ask shutters, they will hold your photos in your box over to the next cruise so you can combine the pictures for the 10 photo package.
