Hi,
We are thinking about an annual pass this year. What can you tell me about it? I do have a couple of questions. What kind of resort discount do you get? Is there a published standard rate? I live out of state can I buy the Disney Dinning experience if I buy the annual pass?

Please tell me what you think!

You are not guaranteed any rate. Usually they release the rates about 3 months before. In the past I have seen 40.00 off values, 60 off mods and 100off deluxe. I saved 300.00 in March with a 79.00 rate when reg rate was 119.00.

Is there a published standard rate?
No.

I live out of state can I buy the Disney Dinning experience if I buy the annual pass?

Yes. Annual passholders can buy the DDE for a discounted price. I think its 65.00 which is 15.00 off the reg price.

aaaa

AP discounts vary from time to time. They can be found at mousesavers.com but you do save when they are offered. Yes you can buy the DDE for $65 and it saves 20% off the entire food bill.

If you go back to Disney over 10 times the pass does save and there is also free parking! And passholder pins, discounts to the water parks and a lower price for the AP renewal.

It is the best discount other than DVC which cost me 15K!

I tell everyone if they are going for around 10 days to upgrade to an annual pass. If you decide to go to WDW within the next 12 days, the money saved boggles the mind (saved us over $1300!) plus the discounts, dde card and other perks make it a great deal! My vote is yes btw :)

Everyone is always saying that if you are going for ten days you will save $$$ with an AP ... BUT a 10-day MYW ticket is $254 and an AP is $434 ... Please tell me what I am missing here:confused3

I think they mean if you are going for ten days in a year, other than in a row. If you buy a 10 day park hopper that doesn't expire, you are looking at spending about the same amount of money as the AP.

But a MYW base tix does not include hopping to more than one park in a day, which adds another $100 or so to the cost of a MYW Base Ticket and I think there's even a certain type of annual pass that includes visits to water parks and pleasure island and WWoS.

I'm not an expert but Ive been researching a FL resident annual pass b/c I've been to WDW 3 times so far this year and seem to be at $300 in tickets so why not add another $150 for the annual pass.

Hope this helps.

I bought an AP this year just to qualify for the room discount that was out during peak season ($131 off deluxe resorts). The annual pass was only a little over $200 more than a 7 day park hopper. I saved almost $900 on just my room by having the AP. ($700 when you take off the $200 AP/7 day tix difference). DH and I agreed that even if we didn't go back this year, it would be worth it for that savings.

I was really thinking of getting my daughter a AP for our trip in Oct and the following summer.... seems like a good deal witht eh food discount. All the math I have done seems to point in this direction and I never factored in any room discount.

I thought that if you get the AP room discount, then you can't get the DDP. Is this correct?

That is true, if you get the AP discount on the room, you cannot get that with a package to get DDP.

However, AP holders can purchase the Disney Dining EXPERIENCE card for $65 for a one year membership. (Usually about 13 months). This card allows a 20% discount on many table service restaurants around WDW, and in places where no table service exists, counter service. (All-Star Resorts, Pop Century, Port Orleans French Quarter, and inside Animal Kingdom).

Thank you. Looks like the AAA package we already booked is the one for us! :thumbsup2

Just remember while codes do come out they aren't guaranteed. There was a "black hole" incident where nothing for a couple of weeks in October - I think in 2005 - was offered.

Also last year during a few months only a few of the Epcot resorts had a discount but none of the others.

The last few years what discounts there have been has been a $$ amount off and not a percentage.

One time my AAA room only discount was only 1.80 more per night than the AP rate.

So while there could be discounts, remember they aren't guaranteed and shouldn't be bought for the discount - or hopes of one - and sometimes the savings on the room won't be that much over AAA.

Hello -
I'm thinking of getting an AP for myself since I'm going to WDW 3x in a 6-month period. However, my son would only be getting a 9 day pass. If I got the DDE, can that be used on our whole resturant tab (mine & son's)? Or only for my own portion of the bill?

Thanks!

The DDE discount can be used for the entire bill, as long as you are present at the table..

From what I have read (I am planning on buying the DDE card) it is good for a total of 6 possibly more people at your table but you must pay the tab on all the people eating, the tab cannot be broken up to individual people. And it is 20% of total bill including beverages and that would include beer etc. After what I paid for meals in '05 for 4 adults (vacation was Christmas gift to kids and spouse) it would more than pay for itself in one meal :thumbsup2. I got all my info from Deb's site under the ticket/passholder site.

DDE is good for yourself and up to 9 guests on the same bill for a total of 10. Gratuity is NOT included on your bill.

I have a silly question. I notice that the under 10 AP is $50 cheaper or so. Is there anything from preventing me from buying one child's AP and then getting the DDE through her and booking AP hotel discounts through her. Or in the small print is there something that says one must be an adult to take advantage of the perks? Is this evil? I don't want to be evil; I feel a little dirty just thinking of trying to save the $50 this way. LoL.

This thread had me more convinced I should get an AP during my next trip in August. I want to go to the parks for 6 -7 days this trip and I want to return next summer before it expires. Plus it gives me an excuse to take an extra trip if I get a ding or some super great airfare.

I usually ski in the winter instead of going to Disney, but I got bad altitude sickness on my last ski trip - not fun  , and I refuse to ski on the east coast..... so if I have to give up the Rockies, more reason to get an AP.
