Need info for 2nd WONDER Cruise...

Oct 13th will be our 2nd cruise on the Wonder (1st for a 4-day) and I have a couple questions that maybe y'all can help with:

- Palo's; I know they 'suggest' a jacket, but I don't want to bring one, it will be the ONLY time during my trip that I'll use it. I have Khaki pants, black shoes, white long-sleave button-up with a nice tie. Is that good enough?

- Has anyone paid for and done the Atlantis Experience? (I think $33 per person). Our last cruise in 1999, we just walked our way onto the grounds, just strolled into the aquariums (couldn't get into the Dig tho'), the strolled in the Casino... all without being hassled. I heard there are wrist-bands now so we're thinking about the tour. Do you get a wrist-band? If so, can we
just split from the group and do our own thing? Also, I 'think' you can purchase a tour from the hotel when you get there, for only $25, is this true?

- Do they still give out the cute Mickey hands for waving at people on the way out of ports? :)

Thanks in advance! I'm new to this board and it looks GREAT!

:)

Hi imtigger2, and welcome to the DIS cruise board! :)

Jackets are suggested and not required at Palo; your planned outfit sounds fine.

I can't answer your questions on Atlantis, hopefully someone else can share their experiences.

I've seen the CREW members waving from the pier in Castaway Cay with the Mickey hands. Are you talking about hands onboard the ship? If so I don't know, we always seem to watch the Castaway Cay sailaway from our verandah.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

Hi Michelle! Thanks! This place looks GREAT! (and I've been looking for answers in the dark cavernous reaches of the newsgroups! Silly me) :)

We cruised on the Wonder in Sept of 1999, just weeks after it's maiden voyage, and as you boarded, we were all handed these large Mickey hands-on-a-stick. It was similar to the one's given during Disneyana conventions for the Live Auctions, cept it had the DCL Logo on it. It was great! Thousands of people on deck all waving Mickey hands! Sounds like they don't do it anymore. Oh well, we'll have to bring ours.

Oh, we had a Veranda as well and I have to say that if you're gonna cruise, THAT'S the way to do it. There's NOTHING like waking up at sunrise and standing on the Veranda in your jammies while they pull the boat into the Bahamas or Castaway... it was great!

We leave Oct 13th! :)

Anyone have any info on my inquiry about Atlantis? ANY info would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks!

No, they don't do this anymore - it was great to wave goodbye to the Carnival boat when the pulled out.
One of our favorite memories is from our 1st DCL cruise when we were docked in the Bahamas next to one of the Carnival boats and DW & I were watching the looks on their passengers' faces (elbows on the rail, chin in hands) while the fireworks were going off from the Wonder just as Carnival unfurled their "Fun Ship" banner on the side of their boat! Unfortunatly, they don't do the fireworks anymore but we still wonder how many Carnival cruisers were converted to DCL because of this.

About Atlantis,
Have you checked out the recent thread, Bringing Lunch Off the Ship to Atlantis? Some good info there. And of coarse Atlantis.com.
