Need info ASAP PLEASE!!!!!!

Hi everyone I have a big dilema. I am going on the May 11 cruise and unfortunately my college classes are not over until wednesday May 14. A professor of mine gave me a take home final for class and wants me to submit it by Tuesday. I know there are computers on board but can I take a disk with me and do my work on it. Is it possible to submit my final to my professor? All i have to do is email it to him, but I wasn't sure it I was able to do that on the ship. Or would it be better to try and get it done and send it to him before my flight leaves saturday? Oh I need help Any and all information will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is an internet cafe on board, however, if it were me I would complete and transmit it before I left. Too many things could happen and I would hate to trust my final grade on the ability to transmit it from sea.

I don't believe DCL will allow you to use your own discs or use their computers for uploading any of your own files for fear of viruses.

Your other option would be to use your own laptop to finish your work and then use a modem and phone line (at $7 per minute ship to shore rates) to email it to him.

All things considered, I would get the final done and mailed to your professor before your trip. You never know what might come up along the way that would keep you from submitting it.

I agree with the others that you should try to get it done before you leave (are you *really* going to work on it anymore once you get on ship?)

However, if you do wish to e-mail it from vacation. You could set yourself an internet based e-mail account (like hotmail or yahoo). Cut and paste your paper/project into an e-mail to yourself at the internet based e-mail account. Then you could print it out, make any adjustments on paper, edit and complete it while on board and then e-mail it from that same account. It could certainly be done - but there are a lot of things that could go wrong in that scenario -- I'd definately try to finish it before leaving.

yeah just think.. what if the ships internet connection went down? You would be in a panic! Send it before you go and enjoy your vacation!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I have decided to do it tonight, because when I really thought about it I realized that it was most likely that I wouldn't want to do it on the ship and it would have never gotten finished. Wish me luck in finishing it up tonight. I LEAVE TOMORROW

While cruising in April on the Magic a friend was preparing a proposal on his laptop. He was able to put the presentation on a diskette and take it to the internet cafe manager who helped him load the file and attach it to his email. Have a great cruise!
