Need inexpensive shampoo for curly hair

My daughter has very curly hair--I buy her the wavy or curly formula from fructis when we're in a pinch. I usually buy matrix salon brands which can be expensive but I only buy them on sale at Ulta with a coupon!

I use Infusium shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner, but I also use Suave for curly hair, but I use 2 conditioners for every one shampoo.

DD is bi-racial so has very curly hair, but wanted to agree with a couple of the posters above. We use conditioner to "shampoo" her hair (co-wash like pp mentioned). There are enough cleansing agents in conditioner for her hair to get clean without it being a "shampoo." Shampoo strips the hair of natural oils. The brand we use for DD's co-wash is Suave Almond and Shea Butter.

I also agree with the pp that said combing her hair out with a wide tooth comb in the shower with conditioner on it is key. We leave Herbal Essence Hello Hydration in DD's hair, but again, her ringlets are as skinny as a pencil and dry, so she needs tons of moisture. That might be too much moisture for your DD. Leaving a little in will help. Also, don't comb through her hair when it's dry. This damages the ends. You can use a water bottle and put some conditioner (like 1/4 conditioner, 3/4 water) to use to spritz her hair with when combing through outside the bath.

Also, depending on the length-- make a simple braid or two at night before she sleeps. This will keep it manageable for the morning. And if her hair doesn't get oily, she does NOT need it washed every day. DD only gets her hair "washed" twice a week, but spritzed with conditioner every day.

If her hair is dry and curly, I could give you a ton of products that are more expensive, but the two above are our staples. I'm a prodcut junkie for DD. I've done tons of research about this because I have straight, fine hair that gets oily and has to be washed daily--complete opposite of DD. I'm proud to say that everywhere we go, people stop us to compliment her hair.

Run to Amazon and buy this book. I honestly didn't realize that my "crazy dolly hair" was actually curly hair until reading this book at age 40. I sure wish I would have figured it all out sooner, or that my stick-straigh-babyfine haired mom would have had any sort of inkling that my hair should have been treated differently.

Personally, I use the Suave naturals as my co-wash and the Shea Moisture line of products (Target, Walgreens) for conditioner, leave in, and a light gel, then I use Eco gel for my wet gel (the book will walk you through the techniques), and I use Deva Curl Set up and Above as my finishing stuff. Ugh, sounds like a lot of products...but it really isn't that big of a deal now that I have it down.

I purchase Moroccon Oil from the Organix brand at Target. It costs around $5.99 for a bottle and it lasts awhile since you don't need much for it to work its magic. I have always felt that the sudsier the shampoo, the worse it is on my hair(sulfites). They have several varieties but I feel that the Moroccon oil works best for my curly hair. I would also recommend applying coconut oil to the ends of her hair before bed and then washing it out the next morning.

I use a combo of yes to carrots and Whole foods brand shampoo and conditioner. My hair gets washed daily and conditioned daily. Its middle of the back length and very thick and "normal" (not dry/ or oily). I'm very happy with the products and the price. Most of the products found at box stores or grocery stores make me itchy. So, I love the brands I finally found!

I have naturally curly hair that is dry and hard to get a comb through. I have used so many different things for it. I use to swear by salon hair products, now after trying store bought, that changed. I always buy moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and it's a plus if it's for curly hair. I like herbal essences totally twisted line. And funny thing is I tried vo5 moisturizing milks, it's really cheap and I had a coupon. I actually really liked there conditioner.
The musts for me after shampooing is a detangler, oil, and a styling product. I first put on paul mitchell lite detangler and start combing my hair with a wide tooth comb. After a bit of that I put in bio silk silk therapy hair oil. I comb the rest of my hair out, then use a cream usually. I like herbal essences totally twisted curl cream and garnier fructis curl sculpting cream gel. I usually alternate those two.

Both D and I have curly hair. We use the Aveeno no sulfate shampoo and conditioner. Works great, and is easy to find (CVS, Target, Walfgreens). I generally buy it at CVS when I get an email coupon for 25% OFF.
