I agree on the trifle. They are so good, so easy and look like they took hours.
Are the people all adults? I have some excellent trifle recipes that are requested everytime I go anywhere.
Chocolate Trifle (my winter specialty)
1 box cake mix, cook in 9X12 pan, cut up into 1/2 inch more or less pieces.
2 chocolate pudding mixes the kind you have to cook. Mix with 2 cups kahula and 2 cups milk, cook over heat till thick. alcohol is supposed to cook off but I don't give this to kids... more for me
2 small containers of cool whip
Layer cake, pudding, cool whip, cake pudding cool whip then top with chocolate shavings.
Peach Melba Trifle (great for the summer)
1 box white cake mix or angel food cake bake and cut up into small pieces
2 boxes vanilla pudding mix with 2 cups Peach Snacpps and 2 cups milk
2 small containers of cool whip
1 or two bags of frozen rasberries
Layer cake, pudding rasberries cool whip, cake, pudding, rasberries and cool whip. top with some rasberries...
Banana Split Pie (this is my brother's favorite and I have to make it for him every birthday. You might be nervous with the raw eggs but I have never had a problem)
make a graham cracker crust with crushed graham crackers and butter. spread into 9X12 pan.
In mixing bowl mix 2 sticks melted butter, 2 eggs, and 2 cups confectioners sugar. Mix for a long time, I usually mix it for about 10 minutes on high, it will fluff up.
spread onto graham cracker crust.
Slice bananas and cover cream with sliced bananas.
Drain 1 large can crushed pineapple and spread this over the bananas.
Cover all with cool whip.
Decorate with maraschino cherries.
the last time I made this I poured on some hershey syrup too and that went over really well.
This can be frozen up to a year and eaten frozen or thawed.
