Ok ladies - I need your creative ideas please!

My DS is taking his road test on Saturday - and presuming all goes well we will be heading for the Secretary of States office on Monday to get him his "full" (no parent needed in the car) Driver's License.

Now OBVIOUSLY I see the significance in capturing this moment for his scrapbook in some way. But a) I don't want to make him nervous, b) don't want to embarass him (just being on the planet with a teenager does enough of that) in this situation at least :p , and c) with all the homeland security issues and regulations am not even sure if I would be allowed to take pictures inside the SOS office.

Any thoughts on what to shoot?

TIA!
Deb

Deb,

You could take a picture of the sign outside the SOS and of him walking in the door. On the way out, take a picture of him getting into the car (driver's side). Also, after he get his license, take picture of it or scan it. If I think of any more, I'll let you know.

What better than a picture of him behind the drivers wheel - all by himself - in front of the SOS building!
:)
Have fun with it!

I'm sure if you asked you can take a picture at the SOS building (we just have DMV"s here) But do remember to ask if your camera is safe if you have to go through a metal detector.

Don't forget to take a picture of him just holding his lis. up proudly!

Good Luck!

SOS and DMV are the same thing really. Here in Michigan we take care of anything that needs to be "registered" (except pets!) at the same place. And for the law enforcement folks it is all in one database when they need to access it.

Anyway, we had to run in on Friday (he had to get a duplicate of his instructional permit, or what we call a level 1 license before he could take his road test on Sat. - some of the numbers weren't legible) and a metal detector isn't an issue but there are NO photos inside. I asked the lady. I think she thought I was a little nutty (obviously not a scrapper) but she said that absolutely NO photos were allowed inside any state buildings under Homeland Security rules.

I'll definitely get shots outside and once the photo license gets here that shot is a must.

Thanks again all - I'm out of work in 26 minutes to head home and take him over after school.

Deb
