Help - I was going over my mental list for DD and her starting full day kindergarten Sept 6 and I completely flipped out when I remembered I have to pack her lunch. I have no idea what to pack; she has life threatening nut allergies (peanuts, cashews and pecans); and doesn't care for lunch meat....maybe if lunch meat is all she gets, will she eat it? Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Does she like any kind of soups or chili, pastas? You used to be able to buy a little thermos type thing (smaller than the one for drinks) but it was for hot foods like soup, etc. I carried one of these as a child and it kept stuff hot.

what does she normally eat?

Some things my kids like to take
a cheese sandwich
string cheese
yogurt
an apple or a banana
pretzels

my kid would worship the ground I walk on if I sent chicken noodle soup in a thermos everyday, but that can be hard for little ones to manage

live4christp1 - great idea - SHE LOVES PASTA!!

Toby'sFriend - you asked what does she eat....PASTA

Momoftwins - THANK YOU - I will begin reading the 8 pages right now.

Thanks everyone

My DD doesn't like sandwiches much so I have to get creative with her. Today she took some shredded cheese in a little container to eat with a spoon, some cold ziti with a little container of ranch dressing to dip it in and some grape tomatoes.

She loves pasta so I do that a lot either hot with butter or broth in a thermos or cold with dressing or sauce for dipping. She'll usually take cheese in some form for protein. Sometimes she'll take tunafish in a little container with some pretzels and use them to scoop the tuna. Occasionally she'll take bologna, ham or turkey rolled up without bread.

If your DD likes cream cheese you could do all kinds of sandwiches for her. Add various fruits or veggies to it to change the taste.

You can also try using things like mini pancakes, waffles or bagels to make sandwiches instead of bread.

Another favorite of my DD's are mini periogies which I send in a thermos.

I am very interested in this thread, and will check out the other as well. I am in the same exact position as the OP...ds starting K this year, with a peanut/tree nut allergy. Good luck to the OP!!! :flower:

I have to figure out what to send with my kindergartener. He doesn't have any allergies, so that makes it a little easier.

Besides sandwiches I plan to send cubed cheese, crackers, fruit pieces, baby carrots, etc.

I'm not looking forward to this part of school starting.
