I'm going in June with my DD and her BFF and her BFF's mom to celebrate the girls 21st birthday...her request! It's her BFF's mom first time there. Colleen, her BFF, has been there with us a few times.

I have two studio's at the BW for 3 nights and 4 full days.

I already booked dinner at Cali Grill for our first night (and the night MK is open til 2 or 3 am). We plan to spend our first night in MK, break for dinner at Cali Grill (during Wishes) and go back into MK for the rest of the night.

Can we do that? Leave and enter the park during EMH?

I also planned to order special desserts, first I was thinking of a cake, but I don't want to lug around the leftover for the evening, so I think I'm going to do the white chocolate shoe with raspberry mousse for each of the girls, but is that "special" enough for a 21st birthday? Other ideas are most welcome.

I'm also thinking of doing something with the rooms, some sort of decorations outside of just balloons and a card from the resort. I know there are private services that do this, but I have no idea what to expect.
Will I be paying $350 + for the standard crepe paper and paper centerpieces?

Any ideas for me to really surprise them and make this a most memorable trip?

(we are also most DEFINITELY going to Jellyrolls!! WOOOHOOO:cool1::cool1:)

TIA!

How about a piece of jewelry so every time she wears it she will be reminded of the great time she had turning 21? Maybe some earings or a fun necklace? You could arrange to have a character come up to her or perhaps the guy who plays Captain Jack at POTC and present it to her.
Or just shop together to find that special something.

Can't wait to hear what the others have for ideas!

Have they done the Segway tour in Epcot?

That's what we are doing with DD15 & her BFF when we take them & stay at BCV for their Graduation trip in June 2011. They are very excited already!

We actually have the Segway tour planned for this trip for the four of us.
It's definitely a one time special thing, and a great suggestion, but we usually do a dinner show, or cirque or a tour on our regular trips anyway.

I LOVE the idea of giving a piece of jewelry (which I happened to have already purchased) and having it presented by Captain Jack at POTC. I didn't even think of such a thing! I love it. But how would I do that? Just go up to the ride operator CM and ask if he can get Cpt Jack to do so?
Is Captain Jack always at POTC? Thanks for the awesome idea, if anyone knows how to make it happen, please let me know.

:) We stayed at AKV last fall for my bday. DH had a cute mug with beautiful flowers delivered. Then mousekeeping left me a towel birthday cake with pipe cleaner candles. Mickey also left me a cute autographed birthday card. I would get decorations from Oriental trading and maybe mail them to the resort. You can get banners and other decor inexpensively and easy to pack also. I think I would prefer an illuminations cruise or something like that, that I may never do again for the money, but that IJMO. Yes, you can leave Cali Grill and go to the park for EMH.

This sounds like a wonderful trip already, your duaghter is very lucky....and so is her BFF and BFF's Mom.

I would go explain your idea at guest services in MK and see what they say. If they couldnt do anything for you, I would try the CM at the POTC. Jack comes out to do the pirate show just outside the POTC. If that doesnt work, the CM at the end of the ride could present it and tell your daughter that Jack saved it especially for her. I bet if you get Jack on the right day, he would slip it to her during a photo op.

Good luck!

There are night time cruises to watch the fireworks. CJ9200 celebrated his DD's 16 birthday with one of these cruises to watch Illuminations at Epcot earlier this year. Here's the link to cj9200 trip report. On the first page there are links to the cruise and fireworks, part 1 and part 2. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=34900993#post34900993

Thanks for the above links and ideas. We have done the Illuminations cruise a few years ago on a family trip, so I don't want to repeat that, even though it was wonderful. We are planning the Segway tour during this trip.

I love the idea of decorations in the room, but I'm not inclined to spend $290 + for things that really are only worth a couple of dollars. I am looking into other places and ways to make this happen though.

All your ideas are very appreciated!
