I happen to have a nice sized collection of Magic Kingdom guide maps from '72 thru present day. The kind they hand out for free at the entrance. I want to display them in an "picture album" type of book. My problem is securing them in place. These are books, brochures, etc, that range in size from 4" x 9" to 5.5" x 8", etc(in other words, varying!). They all either fold out into larger sizes, or are stapled like a book. I need a way to easily display them, along with some verbage regarding the year, etc. But, it needs to be in a way that I can easily remove them if I want to open them up and take a look. I've tried the clear vinyl pouches, but they're to loose and/or to big to work well. I've thought about the sticky back inserts, but I'm worried about the long-term effect of the adhesive (would it eventually rip off the paper?) I've also thought about custom pouches, that would secure each on nicely, but not sure where to even get and/or make them.
So I'm putting this out to the Scrapbooking community and see what ideas are out there. Any suggestions?

I made a pocket on my scrapbook pages so they can be removed if we want to look at them. I cut my paper a inch wider then the folded map so I had plenty of room to run my tape runner down my pocket.

One thing you could do is sew a standard page protector top to bottom up the middle to make 2 12 X 6 pockets. put them in a 3 ring album and intersperse with pages containing the journaling, maybe in regular 8x11 document protectors.

I sometimes cut out the map part from the background and run it across a two page spread because even cut they can be too wide for a 12 x 12. However, that won't work for you, if you want the complete map.

I like the pocket idea. I'll have to try some ideas this weekend.
I never thought to "sew" a page protector. I might run this past my wife and see what she thinks. I (being an engineer) was trying to think of a way to "melt" a seam down the center of one and create a custom pocket. But the sewing idea seems a bit better. thanks!

You can also get 6x12" page protectors (Joanns online carries them, and they often go on sale.. I think We R Memory Keepers is the brand) but I like the idea of sewing a regular 12x12 up the middle. You might even be able to sew an 8.5x11 up the middle or get 3 on a 12x12 page. You could add a sheet of cardstock behind the map, to stiffen up the page, make it easier to turn. Then you would also be able to put another map on the backside - and write on the cardstock around the map.

Have fun.

Ooooooooooooh - not only an engineer but a TRAIN GUY! I'm GREEN :thumbsup2 with envy at your garden railway. (see website)

Any chance you have a foodsaver? I bet you could use a foodsaver to 'seal' the parts of the page protectors into a custom size? Or possibly buy the foodsaver bag roll in a wide size and then customize those (not sure if you need something that is good for paper vs. good for chicken :)

I have one that we use for food but I bet the sealer on it would work. Or any other type of machine like that? Or maybe some kind of stich witchery and an iron? You'd have to be careful and use something over the plastic but it might work.
