Need ideas asap....

my sister is moving to another state this comng week. I want to "give" her something, maybe not necessarily something to lug with her, but maybe a letter to open when she gets there with advice/thoughts/encouragement - she'll be on her own for the first time for the most part....I don't know, I'll send her something when she gets settled but in the meantime, this is all really sudden and I know she's excited and scared too....
any ideas?

Write her a letter that states open on day 3 of homesickness.

Going away and being on your own is the hardest. When you are used to being around family and friends and the familiar things and then you are new in a city on your own homesickness can kick in over and over.

Write her a letter telling her how good she is doing and how proud of her you are. Tell her not to give up and that she can get through the homesickness. If you have any simliar stories, tell her one. Give her the encouragement and at the bottom tell her to read the letter over and over when she is lonely, frustrated or wondering why in the world she ever moved away. Above all keep encouraging her.

thanks - I thought I might do a few different letters....for different days. We are taking her out to dinner tonight, and I felt like I needed to give it to her tonight (we are about an hour away and this is the goodbye!!) but mom works here in my town so she can pick them up Wednesday....the girls and I may go make her a build a bear, I know it's something to carry but she can cuddle it at night. This is a huge deal, she still lives with mom, so she will need as many encouraging words as I can give. I know we are a phone, facebook away, but not being physically close will be very hard for her.

I am going to get some nice stationary to write on (since I only have notebook paper) and I thought I would get a few books on "moving" and being on your own and acouple kids ones fromt he girls, she'll laugh at that. Above all, I need to not cry tonight.

BAB has a longhorn!!! but of course our store nor Brandon has it, I would have to order online and have it shipped asap.

When I go on trips by my self I have a friend who writes me a different card for each day. Sometimes it's a riddle or a joke, other times it's telling me about what she's doing that day. I get to open an envelope each morning, makes me feel good to be remembered.

How about looking for groups that have the same interest as her ie if she is fond of reading find a reading group it might help her find new friends.

thanks.....I am going to find a nice pretty box and put a bunch of different notes in. I feel a bit better knowing I can give it to mom on wednesday, although i wanted to give it to her tonight.
