Need idea for DH's co-workers

Home Depot sounds like a good idea. Anyone, male or female, can use it. Even if you don't do repairs or much stuff around the house they still have lightbulbs, cleaning supplies, garden stuff, etc. I don't know anyone who couldn't spend $10 there in about 5 minutes! :)

My MIL sometimes gives us home depot GCs instead of cash (the usual gift). It's appreciated!

I saw the "scratch card" idea on another thread and while I think it is a neat idea - I'd be concerned about giving one to someone who is opposed to gambling. Might offend someone -

LOL because one of my dh's messengers is also a bookie. :rotfl2: And they all go to Vegas together every year.
But I know what you mean and wouldn't just give them randomly to those that could have a gambling issue.

You could also try restaurant.com coupons to your local restaurants. For 10$ you could buy each person atleast 2 meals with the site giving 60% off now!! It is soemhting we include in each stocking for my DH's coworkers.

DH has done gift cards for a local car wash/ detailing place. This year we are just doing a pretty box of candy. I know its been done to death but just not feeling creative and want this crossed off the list! I got them over the weekend and can have them wrapped and ready to go this weekend.

I know what you mean about the candy. I was in Costco today and the boxes of sweets were very tempting and right in our price range. Dh likes the Home Depot idea. There's one in the county he works in so they could pick up something before or after work even.

I think Starbucks and Home Depot both sound great - we always give all our public works workers gift certificates to our local pizza/sub place - that way they can take home a pizza on a busy day or all go for lunch together (I also wait for them at the crack of dawn on their last pick up before Xmas to hand out a box of homemade fudge to each truck with the gift certificates - they so appreciate this little 'ritual' that it makes us all smile - seems these hardworking guys/gals don't get as many 'thanks' as some of the other departments do!). :smooth:

Here's another thought- Yankee Candle is doing the B1G1 free candle sale right now on all 22oz candles. I just picked up 10 for $97 with $5 shipping and $9 in taxes. Not bad for 10 gifts!!! Even single guys like the candles to cover to odors of the day old pizza that is still on the coffee table!!!

Do you live by a Lowes? My cousin's DH bought all of his employees lazer levels. They are around $15 but when he told the manager at Lowes that he was buying them for his employees, he sold them to him for $9.99 each. I think he bought 8 or 10 of them. Your DH being a cop would probably pull a lot of weight at Lowes or Home Depot either one. Don't be afraid to ask, "Is this the best you can do on that price?"

I know that I myself would love to have one for hanging pictures, shelves, etc.....

At the risk of making more work for you :guilty: have a look over on the home-made T-shirts thread - one of the designers has done some great Mickey/Harley designs which you could iron onto T-shirts for everyone (I saw one person got 5 t-Shirts for $10 :cool1: )

If I were one of his employees I personally would love Tim Horton's gift Certificates... LOL
there are on every corner in my neck of the woods... LOL

But my husband said he would like maybe Delta Sonic car wash Gift Certificates, Home Depot or even a gas card....

Good Luck and happy holidays !

DH wanted to get his co-workers led head lamps because they are telecomm techs and he uses his all of the time. Unfortunately at $15 ea I don't have the money to buy 8 of them without breaking the budget.

Instead we're giving peppermint bark, 7 layer bars, and keychain sized bottles of wd-40 which is a must have for these guys

This may sound cheesy, but can you get a nice decent pen for each of them for around $10.00, one that clicks at the end and does not twist or need a cap taken off? I really don't know what pens cost, but I used to be a police officer and pens always seemed to get lost. And you always need them to write out tickest, etc.

A gift card to a 24-hour gas station/mini-mart in your husband's jurisdiction would be good. If they don't get their personal gas there, they could always use it for coffee/soda/snacks.

Or how about gloves, the kind where things don't penetrate through them. Might be too pricey.

And chocolatevault.com has a molded chocolate gift package for police. It has chocolate handcuffs, nightstick, badge and handheld radio. It was $9.95. Good Luck with whatever you decide.
