Not really for the inventor, but certainly techie cool...if you have a digital camercorder there is software called Stop Motion Pro. You use it with the camcorder to make digital stop motion animation cartoons. Very Cool!
As a graphic designer (and sometimes web design), I think that this kid is awesome! Finding something about web design for an 8yo is tough, but I did manage to come across this:
Anything creative/techie would be a great gift - maybe check out the aisle of toys that have all those creative "kits" and such. Those were always my favorite as a kid!
Thank you!! I KNEW you guys would come up with some ideas
I can't believe I have never heard of snap circuits - I think that will be perfect!!
I am still challenged with the website designing. The dr was impressed that she said that 2 years in a row at yearly check up. I was impressed that he remembered from last year. OK, I know he wrote it down but still nice to acknowledge it!
Based on the suggestions, it seems like I need to dig around a bit and see if she is more interested in graphics or website design. That will guide me a bit better.
I stumbled across this site a few minutes ago and I thought of how I had seen your thread title earlier today.
I have not looked into this site at all, but it says it's free, designed for students (says middle and high school), and it's from Carnegie Mellon University.
I'm not sure what about designing websites your child is interested in, but you might want to poke around on this site to see what it offers.
