Need idea for 40th birthday party!!!

Hi everyonel, I need your help. My 40th b'day is quickly approaching (June 17th) and we are going to WDW in July to celebrate.

But ... my DH wants to throw me a party, however I
DO NOT want a surprise party. We are sitting here now trying to think of a fun party to have with all of our friends.

We could take about 30 people out to dinner to celebrate, but when you're at the restaurant and seated, you don't have a chance to speak with everyone and mingle.

We are trying to come up with a party idea where everyone can have fun. Unfortunately we don't have a pool in our yard, so a pool party is out.

I would love a Disney themed party, but not sure how to go about it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas of parties they attended or planned?

I would appreciate your thoughts!

Ok, well what I did foro my 40th was...............we booked a restaurant. It was a Chinese Smorgasboard & rather than us footing the bill, for everyones meal, I asked on the invites that everyone pay for their own meal in lieu of a gift & it worked like a dream.

We all had a good night & I didn't come home lumbered with a load of presents & all everyone had to do was come along & have some fun & pay for their meal.

We also did a siimiar thing for my Mum's 80th. Only with hers we asked that everyone pay half of the cost of the meal as my brother & I were sharing the costs.

I had a "wake" for my DH's 40 (11 years ago, can't believe it). I sent out "funeral notices" to his friends and asked everyone to wear all black. I had his cake decorated with a graveyard setting and gave everyone a black silk rose.

You can eulogize him, asking everyone to contribute pieces of info for the eulogy. If done in the right "spirit", it's lots of fun!
