Need hotel recommendations for family of 6 in December

Hi everyone,

We were planning on staying on Disney property, but there doesn't seem to be any specials or discounts going on for December. Due to this, we're thinking about staying off-property. Does anyone know of a hotel that has rooms or suites that can accomodate 6 of us for a reasonable price?

Check out hotelkingdom.com for Cypress Pointe. I don't know if they have rooms left for your dates, but the 2 bedroom in Cypress Pointe is wonderful. It even has a great washer and dryer for you.

Well, there are several places you can stay. The "suites" such as the Doubletree in DTD or the Embassy Suites LBV have two double beds with a separate living area with double pull-out couch. Those will sleep six. They have refrigerators and microwaves. I've read on this board that the Staybridge Suites has nice accommodations.

You may also want to check out privately owned townhouse or condo rentals. Most of them will have three separate bedrooms and a pull out couch. Most usually have a clubhouse that you can also use with a pool and arcade, etc. They usually all have a full-sized kitchen so you can prepare your own meals and a washer and dryer that the owner will let you use. They're usually much cheaper than staying on-site OR renting a suite hotel. The only drawback is that it's self-catering - which means you oftentimes have to provide your own paper goods, soaps, etc. and that you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself for the time you are there.

A good place to check condos out is www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner). Since you're going in December, you may be able to get a really decent rate as long as it's not Christmas week. I rented the condo I'm staying in (3 BR, 2BA, full kitchen, great clubhouse and pool) for $85/nt+tax in January. It's only 1 1/2 miles from Disney. I thought it was a great bargain!
