Need a CHEAP hotel near Buffalo airport for one night (Dec. 17).
Prefer one that offers free parking (up to two weeks) and free shuttle to/from Buffalo airport.

Have never been to this airport and know nothing about it or surrounding hotels.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.
You DIS'ers are awesome. You have so much info. to share.

I booked Here and they offer a free breakfast and a shuttle to the airport.. and parking as well.
The pictures look good and They were very friendly on the phone.

Hope this helps!

We stayed at the Best Western a few weeks ago on the way to Maui. I believe it was $88. You could park up to 14 days and they had continental breakfast out before 6 am.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn on Buell Ave and it was great. Very fast shuttle service. I think we paid $89

what was it like.. that is where we are staying.. We got the suite so that we can put the kids to bed early, and we don't have to go to be at 8:00 pm.

The pictures look amazing! What was the breakfast like? We are getting the breakfast to go, wondering what that is like?

We have stayed at the Comfort Suites and Holiday Inn Express.
Both are great and have free breakfast. The Holiday Inn is a bit newer but both had great pools and hot tubs. Parking and shuttle are complimentary. I would suggest either so go with the best rate. I have also stayed at the Radisson (changed names since then) and would not recommend it until they do renovations.
Hope this helps!

mousy- it was built last summer I believe and everything is very fresh, clean, and new. Beds are very comfy. Pool area is nice. We always had a 6am flight so never got to try the brekky. We have stayed here twice. Shuttle service is excellent.

We are leaving really early too, our flight is at 7:15 they told me that they send a breakfast to go. A water and a bagel, and a yogurt and a piece of fruit and I think something else but it is early and I forget.. lol.. thanks for letting me know what it is like.

We stayed recently at the Hampton Inn Galleria, one exit down from the airport (literally took us about 8 minutes to the airport), so we could shop at the Galleria Mall the day before our flight!!!!! We got connecting rooms for $89 US/night/rm, and that was the park n' fly rate (less than CAA rate!). Not sure how long you can park as we still drove to the airport and parked there (didn't want the hassle of bags and shuttle on the way home), but I did see the shuttle.

We left about 5:30am for our 8:30 flight (only because of Jeanne, we were the 2nd plane back into Orlando!!), and because free breakfast isn't served until 6, they packed us up to-go bags.

My only complaint, and really could happen to anyone...the batteries died in the room key reader on our door, and I was standing outside my room soaking wet in bathing suit with my soaking wet toddler and had to go back and forth to the desk for them to reprogram my key, until they realized it was the batteries. Now what was even weirder...it happened again in Disney at Coronado!!! What are the odds...twice in one trip, at two different hotels????!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?

may i ask what is the least expensive way to book those hotel?
have anyone able to book it thru priceline?

Am just about to book the Holiday Inn Express in Buffalo and had three last questions:

1. Can you see the planes taking off/landing from any of the rooms. If so, which ones? I know, I know, why make a room request at a stopover hotel?

The kids won't actually know that we are flying (they still think we are driving to WDW) until we are at this hotel. I thought it might be neat to say something like "Look out the window and look at those planes, we will be on one tomorrow"!!!!! I HOPE SO ANYWAY, AS LONG AS INDEPENDENCE AIR IS STILL FLYING. I AM PRETTY CONFIDENT THAT THEY WILL BE, BUT WHY DIDN'T I PAY A LITTLE MORE AND SIMPLY FLY SOUTHWEST. NOTE TO SELF: self, next wdw holiday, only fly southwest, southwest, southwest.

I still can't believe I am going to be paying more for my stopover hotel room then my hotel room in Disney.

2. I have a 6:45 am flight. By leaving the hotel at 4ish am (on the shuttle), is that too early to get the pack and go breakfast? Has anyone actually had this pack and go breakfast and what is it like?

3. What do you eat for dinner the night before you fly out? We were thinking of ordering into our hotel room a large pizza and a tossed salad from a pizza place nearby. Any recommendations????

Any tips would be appreciated.

I cannot answer all your questions because I have never been there.. but they did tell me that the pack and go breakfast is available 24 hours, (you get a bagel, yogurt, fruit, water and something else that I forget) the airport is directly across from the hotel so I would think that you would see them all the time..
For Dinner we were just going to tour the area and see what is there, I am looking for suggestions here too!

I found this website, and it clinched our decision to fly Southwest, and spend the night in Buffalo.

http://www.parksleepfly.com/index.php

It gives you choices of a few different "chain" hotels. The only downside is a $4.00 booking fee through this site. The rates sound the same as what others are mentioning.

I just spoke to the clerk at the the Holiday Inn Express and she was just about to book me at the 89.00 rate . I then asked about parking and she said that is a different rate (since I will need to leave my car there). She said the park and fly rate is $114.00 plus taxes!!!!!!

Hockeymom, didn't you pay the $89 rate and park your car there for the duration of your holiday????? Maybe I should just call back and hope to talk to someone else.

What should I do???

Thanks
Suzy

I work at a travel agency and our corporate rate at Comfort Suites including parking is $89 US. I can check the HI Express for you and see what our rate is there. I have stayed at both and they are equal in terms of accommodation, pool and breakfast. The rooms may actually be bigger at the Comfort Suites.

Teresa,
You are so great . Would you mind checking the rates for me at the Holiday Inn Express as well. I would prefer the Holiday Inn Express at 89 US.

Please advise.

Anyone ever stayed at the Quality Inn on Genesee St. Buffalo. It says it is an airport hotel. I haven't called them yet but I found a rate on-line as low as $69US/nt. I don't know if that includes parking though but it looks like it includes breakfast, indoor pool and free shuttle. I really am hoping to stay somewhere that offers an indoor pool.
Am still hoping to somehow be able to stay at Holiday Inn Express though just because of the recommendations on this board.

Thanks

Suzy

Forget the Quality Inn I just mentioned in my last post. I just read some reviews on it and they are BAD.

So it looks like I am hoping for the Holiday Inn Express at 89US (if I can get that rate) or perhaps the Comfort Suites (but only is I can't get the Holiday Inn Express).

Thanks again Teresa for checking into this for me.

I don't know if you noticed my last post about this, but we're going to book via this website. They charge a $4.50 fee to book, but the rates seem good:

The cheapest rate for my date (Feb 12, 2005) is the Sheraton at $88, and includes 14 days of free parking.
