So I am seriously considering a trip to NYC in August to see Little Mix perform on The Today Show on AUGUST 18. I've started looking at hotels but want some advice as to suggestions of hotels close to Times Square that aren't ridiculously expensive. The trip would be AUGUST 17-19. If I can work this out I'll seriously be the happiest girl on the planet as LM means the world to me.

TIA!

I recently had a last minute trip to NYC and considered airbnb. What I learned was that many of the people from whom you will rent will actually live in the apartment with you while you are there. Others stay with friends but you will discover the "apartment" is actually a studio- aka, one large room- and ask you to move quickly and discreetly through the building so that the neighbors won't realize that you are there. I'm not sure it's entirely legal for tenants in NYC to rent their place to you, short-term.

We stayed at the Wyndham New Yorker on 8th Ave at 34th St. It's about a 15 minute walk up to the middle of Times Square. I think the AAA rate was $215 a night but with taxes, etc., for 2 nights our bill was about $540. They put us in a handicapped access room, so we had plenty of space. The physical building is somewhat run down as it's been there forever, but the hotel lobby and rooms have been recently updated and are quite nice. Mattress was amazing!! I felt quite safe walking home from Times Square at 11pm with my DD; there were plenty of folks out and about, ample foot and vehicular traffic, lots of cabs and cops out and about. I'd definitely stay there again.

Do you want to stay at Times Square or closer to Rockefeller Center/Today Show?

We stayed at the Residence Inn at Lexington and 48th.It was a few blocks to walk up to the Today Show. I got an alert from them today that prices had dropped and saw that it was around $165/night.

Closer to Times Square were a Springhill and Fairfield Inn on 38th that was an easy walk. Also an easy walk to Penn Station if you are traveling there by train. Have views of the Empire State Building.
