Hi, all - we are planning our first trip down to DLR in January. After booking at the Residence Inn about 1.5 miles away (because the two-bedroom suite, free Wifi, and hot breakfast all fit our needs perfectly!), I am second-guessing that decision, of course!

We really need something like a two-bedroom suite set-up; I've looked at a bunch of other options and narrowed it down to the following, along with the things that make them, in our estimation, less desirable than the Res. Inn:

Carousel (2-bedroom suite doesn't have a separate sitting area)
Desert (not actually a suite, per se, two connecting rooms)
Plaza (not actually a suite, per se, two connecting rooms)
Desert Palms (2-bedroom suite doesn't have a separate sitting area, one adult would need to be on a sofabed)

So we really need to decide whether those negatives outweigh the positive of being closer to the park - help, please! Any thoughts on any of these places would be SO appreciated!

Ah, I forgot - the one other big factor here is that I am the WORLD'S LIGHTEST SLEEPER; even with ear plugs and white noise, anything can wake me up! So if any of these are particularly good or bad about noise, I'd love to hear it.

The biggest advantage to staying near is two-fold, IMO.

1) Do you plan on making it to rope drop? If you are using a shuttle from Residence Inn, you lose some control over the situation, and may have to get up a little earlier to make sure you are first in line for the shuttle.

2) Do you plan on taking a break in the afternoon? If so, you loose precious time waiting for a shuttle to and from the hotel. This may or may not be a concern for you, but for me I can't stand losing an hour (at least) in the middle of the day.

Don't forget to add some Advil PM to your packing list, it really helps with the earplugs for sure!

Camelot also has a two bedroom suite. Two Q in one room, a K and sofabed in the other. They also have a dining room table with 4 chairs. They can be a little noisy, and the breakfast is not good (in fact it's bad!), but the walking distance is nice, and the table is nice if you eat in the room. McD's is right next door. The beds were also not the most comfortable, but we liked the room set-up. I think they charge for wi-fi, and like most of the hotels on Harbor, it tends to be spotty.

I believe desert inn and suites are one room seperated by a door between the 2 bedrooms and only 1 entrance. That's what the floor plans show. I think that one of the rooms has a seperate seating area with a pull out sofa if that's what you were looking for but I am not positive on that.
