Here is what we are looking for:

Continental U.S. Only
Honeymoon would be in July (think of avg. temps)
Non-Disney (per request of FI)

Do you have any suggestions?

Honeymoon you say :scratchin ..well there is that town in Pennsylvania :p

How about New York City or New Orleans?

How about California? Sand Diego is really nice and I hear the northwest coast is beautiful.

My first choice is out since you said continental US, if you hadn't of said that I would have said Italy....it is such a romantic/historical/beautiful country. But I guess I am biased since I lived there 8.5 years.

what kind of things are you intersted in...do you prefer a city or the great outdoors or a mix? do you like history, art, nightclubs, beaches, what? 2 ideas that immediately come to mind are:

san francisco/wine country

maine/new england.

All of the above would be fine. We're just wanting OUT of Texas for this trip mainly. We are beyond open to ideas. So either relaxing just watching grass grow for 10 days or going shopping would be fine too.

Although it's not continental US have you considered a cruise?

Yes we have thought of a cruise. We're open to that also.

San Francisco would be such a lovely place for a Honeymoon. There are nice restaurants, nice hotels, and lots of fun things to walk around town and see. Plus, Napa is only about a 1.5 hour drive north.

SF is such a beautiful city, and that time of year the temps would be wonderful.

Sounds like you need to go to a beach where you can relax and do as little or as much as your like. July would be perfect anywhere on east or west coast. maybe martha vineyard or nantucket. or cape cod with visits to some of the islands. maybe the outerbanks of north carolina.

I second San Francisco. It would be beautiful that time of year. Lots of things to do, especially with Napa, Sonoma, and the Monterey Peninsula all within driving distance. So you could make your honeymoon as relaxing or as busy as you wish.

By the way, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

You don't mention how much time you have but my DH and I traveled up Pacific Coast Highway 101 in California for our 18 day honeymoon. It was beautiful, the weather (in August) was fabulous and we hit the areas we wanted to spend time in. We started in LA (Disneyland & Beverly Hills), stopping in Santa Barbara; Hearst Castle in San Simeon; Big Sur (heartstoppingly breathtaking views); San Francisco; and the Napa Valley. We loved it so much we later returned and started in LA and went southward including Malibu, Laguna Beach, Catalina Island and San Diego. There are great, romantic hotels all up and down the coast to fit any budget.

San Francisco was the first place that came to mind...it's a wonderful place to go!! Of course, Disney would be my 1st choice, but SF is great too!!

Maine would be an excellent choice, as someone previously suggested. You could either fly into Boston or Portland, rent a car and take it leisurely up the coast (or even out to the Cape). So many great bed and breakfasts. Freeport has excellent shopping. And it would get you out of the TX heat! I love New England!

What about Hilton Head or Vero Beach..not "Disney" but still "Magical!!"

How about a ski lodge in Colorado? Off season, so I think would be less expensive, still romantic, lots to do. We actually saw a special on the travel channel about this once, and we definitely want to do this some day.

Well you knocked out my first 2 suggestions (Hawaii and WDW) so I think I'll go with Cali. Pretty beaches, lots to see (maybe you can even slip in a quick trip to Disneyland!).

We went to san Francisco (not Honeymoon) and LOVED it. Our Honeymoon was Sandals in Jamaica (I know you want US-but this was GREAT) all inclusive for couples only - was just wonderful!!

I agree with San Francisco too. Lots to see and do and great places to eat. I would also go to Napa, tons of great vineyards there!

I would get married in Vegas. You can get married by Elvis, in an Eifil Tower, in a helicopter, on a Gondala, on a bridge with the gondala's below. I can't even name all the types of Weddings available in Vegas. It would be mind boggling.

I don't really gamble but there is just so much other stuff to do there besides gambling.

Thanks so much guys! I'm going to pitch the San Francisco and Maine/New England idea tonight!
