Need honest advice about hotel

Short story: found a hotel real close to the Mickey and Friends parking lot; Anaheim Maingate Inn. It looked like a good deal so I booked it (non-refundable, by the way), then I started to read some reviews ; not many were positive with the only bright spot was the close walk to the tram. Here's my question- has anyone stayed here and what's your brutally honest opinion? As it stands we may just cancel and eat the fee and look elsewhere . Thanks

Well, you did not book this hotel for the amenities. They don't even have a pool! Sometimes, you go in with low expectations and you are surprised. The location is good. That might make your stay.

I would think twice about canceling and flushing money down the toilet. Save that for something in the parks!

How much would you be out? The reviews say it's dirty. That's my #1 criteria in a hotel. It can be bare bones and no frills, but it needs to be clean.

Around $518. We stay in hotels everywhere we travel with bad reviews and found them to be unfounded (even the best 5-star hotels has its critics), but seeing the constant string of negative reviews have got me thinking twice. The cleanliness was a major concern for DW (and myself). Still have plenty of time time to think about it. Like Baptist says we may be pleasantly surprised but just wanted to see what we were getting into. Thanks so much for the help

I booked that (refundable, since our hopeful trip is in 6 months) and the reviews on other sites scared me too much, too. I ended up canceling the reservation already. We'll have 5 kids 10-and-under with us, and the "dirty" reviews made me nervous. If you stay there, please update us on your experience!

Haha, we will probably overlap - Nov 1st-4th probably (I have reservations in Buena Park that week and the next, JIC someone gets sick or something) so probably not in time to be helpful, but I'm still super curious.

Wrong order! And where did you book it that the full cost is nonrefundable? Many places usually charge only the first night. But depending on your grossness sensitivity and how long you will actually stay in the room, you might be able to tough it out. But maybe bring your own sheets/sleeping bags and bug spray. Some bad reviews, but some are for things like thread lint on a comforter or a few strands of hair in the sink.

Yeah, my fault on that one . I booked through the hotel site itself but for some reason the confirmation came from Booking. com. (don't remember going trough that site though...).

we stayed there about a year ago. the room wasn't entirely functional (outlets that we couldn't get to work, etc), but other than that it wasn't bad. i don't remember it being dirty. i do remember it being very noisy (traffic all night) and parking is extremely tight, those are the only negatives that i can think of. we don't care about a pool.

Definitely let me know, because we might be changing our trip to the last week of November (after Thanksgiving) so I went ahead and booked there (along with 2 other places... I have issues). So I'll have time to hear what you think of it and cancel or not!

Never stayed there. But since it's nonrefundable, I wouldn't throw away $500. If it seems slightly dirty, pick up some lysol wipes or something. If you're in the park most of the time...I'm sure you'll manage even if it's not the best hotel you've ever stayed in. I've stayed in some dumps and I survived. Haha!

You could make a second refundable reservation with a 24 hour cancelation period starting on your 2nd or 3rd night. That way if you don't like you could move, but if it's alright you don't necessarily eat the cost. If you have any issues I'd at least give the motel a chance to fix them. But at the same time, deciding to get another room mid-trip can be pricy or non-existent if you don't book something in advance.
