Well, I booked a package through AAA. I had a site only booked through WDW but called today to apply the AAA discount and they were all gone already. The AAA package is about $250-200 more than if I had bought the tix seperate through the military, but I am going for easy right now. I put a large deposit down and will pay it off over the next couple of months.

Now, here is my question. I will be traveling alone with the kids. I have never backed this camper in and am quite nervous. I pulled it from NC to LA but all of the stops were pull through sites. On my ressie I had AAA request an easy back in. The pull thru sites at FW are too close to the main road with the kids. Is there anything I can do to up my chances of getting a corner that is easy to back into? Should I call FW direct now and then again before our trip? How soon before our trip? If I explain my situation (dh deployed and I by myself) do you think they would send someone to help me? Our first time there in a popup, a fellow camper actually backed our camper in for us since dh couldn't do it. (It was really really tight even for a popup and dark in the 2000 loop) I know I can do it if I set my mind to it and practice if I have enough room. One reason I did not get a preferred is because I hear those loops are tighter.

Any ideas?? Oh, and how do I hitch up alone, my ds will be meeting me in Orlando so he won't be home to help me hitch up.

HELP!

I don't know if they would send someone to help you back it in, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Also if your timing is right, you may have a neighbour who will help guide you in, or even back it in for you. I know if we were there my DH would do it for you in a heartbeat, just that kind of guy! I would call Disney and explain your situation, and try and get one that's easy. I don't know if they're flagged that way in their computer, but there may be someone on who knows different sites and their ease. Good luck, I too am confident that if you put your mind to it, you can do it:thumbsup2

I think if you explained your situation you could get one of the easier sites. request this on your reservation now. Then try to arrive during the daylight hours if at all possible. Good luck and God Bless You and your family and your DH for his service and your sacrifice.

Yes, they will send someone to help you. On our last trip we were assigned to a site that had a fence that wouldnt let me back in. I called and they sent me to another site that had two cars parked across from the site and couldnt get in, we called again and they sent us to another site which nice and open and they had sent two CM's to help, I guess they thought I had'nt parked before. It turned out to be one of the better sites we have had over the years.

Be sure and tell them at check-in you would like some help, they do have CM's working out in the park.

We were there just last week, and we heard of CM's helping those who needed it with no problem or hesitation. So do ask. As for hitching up..do you have a neighbor there that could help you? I know that is my job when hubby is hooking ours up. We make a great team!:goodvibes

As someone else had mentioned, I know if we were there, my hubby wouldn't hesitate a second to help you back in. And yes, he'd even back it in for you. He drives an 18 wheeler for a livin. So a camper would be child's play for him..LOL!

The morning we left, our neighbor was pullin out a class A and hubby was helping him get it out of his site. We were in a tight loop, 300, It was nerve racking to watch. But they got it out without a scratch!!

Blessings to you and prayers for your hubby. Mine is retired after 21 years in the Navy. So I know where you are. My prayers are with you all!

Major blessings,
Winnie

I know for a fact that some of the sites are rated for the ease of accessability. Once due to some road difficulties we checked in late in the day and they asked if my DH was good at backing. The only site available to fit our requirements was rated as extremely difficult to navigate.

Thanks for all of the tips. I am glad to know that the backing in difficulty is noted for the CMs. I had them note it on my ressie, but will call and let them know as well. I plan to arrive just after lunch time. I will be staying the night in Lake City and then driving in. ds16 will be flying in later using ME.

As for hitching, my camper is stored in the RV storage lot for post housing. I want to teach dd11 how to guide me. I have also seen mirrors that magnet onto the tongue. Problem is that I have a van and the joining of the doors blocks that view. I could try to back up with the doors open I guess. Has anyone here ever used a mirror?

Also, thanks for all the well wishes, I will pass them on to dh.
