Well we are going to Disney in May. On that trip, we will also be going to Universal. I need to decide if we can do both parks in 1 day or night. I am not a big rides person but DH is. Help me decide!

As US/IOA are right next door to one another you can certainly visit both parks in the same day.

It depends on how busy the parks are whether you will be able to see everything, I would advise getting to the park early though.
It will be difficult to see it all in one day I think.

You need to be careful you do not rush too much as this will just spoil the day, better to have a brilliant day and miss a couple of rides than trying to cram them all in.

Do your research on what rides you have to get on.

It can be done, but you'll have to arrive the parking garage at 8am, go to IOA first, tour the park, then head over to USF.
Here's another idea to think about. Disney stays open late all the time, till about 10pm. So the idea, is you buy the Universal 2 park/2 day ticket, and visit each morning. In the afternoon, you head back to Disney, rest, and tour a Disney park at night. That way, you'll have two mornings at Universal, and still visit Disney.
