Hello all, I am hoping some experienced travelers can give me some much needed advice. Here is my situation: We are going to WDW Oct 1-10th. I have DD9 and DD6 and they both want to spend a day at WWOHP. Neither of them will ride the dragon coaster, both will probably ride the other family coaster (although as most parents know subject to change at the exact moment) and the only other ride at WWOHP is the FJ and I am afraid it will be too scary. My DD6 (will almost be 7 at the trip) has recently started having a fear of the dark and is interested in HP but has not read the books or seen the movies. My DD9 is currently reading the 5th book and I think she would go on FJ and probably do okay. I am trying to be practical here, is it going to be worth the several hundred dollars to take a family of four to a park with only 3 rides and a good possibility that the girls will only ride the family coaster and my husband or I might have to sit out the FJ with DD6. Is FJ that scary? Should we just skip WWOHP this trip and try again in the spring when we return for a school chorus trip (trip to sing at WDW but I think we could get a day to visit WWOPH)

I would love advice and TIA!!

Rochelle

WWOHP is only an island in the greater theme park of IOA, so you have Toon Island with some great water rides, Suess Landing that is fun for all ages, JP with has some fun interactions as well as another water ride and Marvel Comics with Spider Man :)

If you go with a 2 park pass then there are many things over at US that might interest your girls as well. They are mostly simulators over there and are tons of fun.

I would not rule out a trip over to WWOHP because they only have 3 rides, there are many more things to see and do at IOA and US that will keep everyone entertained.

Wizarding World is a park within a park. Not sure if you've been to Disney at all but it is like Fantasyland, which is just one section of Magic Kingdom.

Here are the things your kids can do at the ENTIRE park (which is called Islands of Adventure)

In Suess Landing: Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish, High in the Sky Trolley Ride, Carro-Suess-el, the If I Ran the Zoo play area

In Lost Continent: Poseidan's Fury and the Sinbad Show. They'd also probably love to interact with the Mystical Fountain

In Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Flight of the Hippogrif, perhaps the Forbidden Journey Ride

In Jurassic Park: Pteranadon Flyers, Jurassic Discover Centre, Camp Jurassic Playground

In Toon Lagoon: Bluto's Bilge Barges and perhaps Ripsaw Falls, Me Ship the Olive Playarea

In Marvel Superhero Island: Perhaps Superman, watch the Superhero parade, Storm Force Acceletron

here is the website: www.universalorlando.com

Also remember that you don't have to sit out anything with your children. There is child swap at each ride which means that one parent waits with the child in a room at the loading area until the other parent has ridden. Then the waiting parent gets to go on the ride without any further waiting.

You should definitely check out the rest of IOA. The other islands: Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Lost Continent and Seuss Landing have something for everyone.

Saying you are going to IOA just for Harry Potter is like saying you're going to the Magic Kingdom just for the Tomorrowland.

:confused:well fj will sometimes get brighter while your on the ride like when you go to the quidditch pitch. the whole ride of fj is not completely dark there are bright spots on the ride.

Thanks so much for all the responses, I honestly did not realize that WWOHP was actually part of IOA.....that makes me seem really out of the loop! We could definitely get our monies worth with all the other IOA stuff. Do you think it will be a big disadvantage the first week of October to not be staying on site and have the "fastpass" ability that onsite guests get? Is it worth the trouble of changing my WDW plans and say check out a day early, move to US onsite location before park opening to check in and get the onsite benefit? TIA!

Rochelle

The first week in October isn't a busy time. You will probably be fine staying offsite. Onsite is more convenient and luxurious but if money is an issue you'll be fine staying somewhere less expensive.
