Please help me write a note to school that sounds somewhat professional. I searched the DIS for one I thought sounded good and not too over the top but I couldn't find it.

BTW both schools have okayed the trip, I don't have a problem writing the Kindergarters letter, but help me word the 8th grade nephews note, he wants his work so he can get things done before we go and also to "re" inform them that our trip starts end of next week :cool1:
I just can't get it to sound right. And we want to remind them that we are committed to getting the work done. I couldn't think of a better group of people to help me out.

Thanks!

Does your school require a note?? I usually just sent something in to the teacher saying we will gone such and such days, if at all possible please give any work before we leave, if not then they will finish it when we get back.

Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms. _____,

This note is to remind you of our impending family trip to begin on ___. Little Johnny will return to school ___. If at all possibe, Little Johnny would like the list of assignments he will be missing before we leave. He is committed to finishing most of his schoolwork before our departure. Any missed tests, quizzes, or assignments, will be made up in a timely fashion after we return home. Please feel free to contact me if you have any question, comments, or concerns. I can be reached (123) 456-7890 during the day and (987) 654-3210 during the evening.

Thank you for your help and cooperation,
______
Date it!

Mistletoe Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for I just couldn't get it written so it sounded right! :cool1:
We leave Friday as soon as school is out. :cool1:

My note is very similar to mistletoes except I offer to help in preparing the work. Sometimes they take me up on it an other times they just let me know they appreciate the offer.

I have spent an afternoon copying and downloading info from the web and I have also offered to help with activities in the classroom after as a "thank you". This may not work with and 8th grader but you never know!

We also hit the staples with her books last Feb to photocopy some of the pages my dd's would need rather than carrying alot of books with us.

Professional sounding note is great but whenever i am requesting someone put themselves out, no matter how little, i like to show in my wording how appreciative i am of their efforts. I would add a few more "greatly appreciates" and "if there is any thing i can do to help" lines

ps great tip on copying book pages instead of bring all those school books. Plane rides and just a few minutes during those quite times in the afternoon are a great time to work on that homework if it can't be completed before you leave

have a wonderful trip

There is a really long letter on the mouseforless.com that you can pick and choose the parts of it you would like to use.

I used the whole thing because I asked to have my childs absence considered as "excused". I think there is a 99% chance that WONT happen, but I figured why not ask?

When I had to write a note for my son in K, I had to explain why it was "educational" or they wouldn't excuse him. and he missed a whopping two days. Next time, he's sick.
