Need help with which resort to choose regarding bus service

While first searching for a room a few weeks ago I found that POR or CSR were my only choices for cheapest and planned to stay at one of those. Just recently however, All Star Sports and Music have some openings. The savings is pretty good and I know how little time is spent in the room, but I am concerned about Bus service. Can anyone speak as to which has better bus service and if it is a significant difference? We are going at the end of January and it will be my mom's first trip. I am concerned about how long bus waits can be since she has some minor mobility issues. Also, have Movies and Sports finished refurbs?

I'm surprised Sports is showing up since AFAIK it is not being reopened yet - so I'd take that one off the list to avoid the unknown factor.

Bus service can always vary - even within the same stay at the same resort. I've had long waits at ever level, and I've had showr waits at every level.

One thing to keep in mind - Music or Movies is going to have a clear line for each individual park. With nowhere to sit. POR oe CSR is going to have a bus "depot" for each area and there are benches there that your mother could sit on. BUT there is no clear line, and all busses stop at the "depots" so you'll have to keep track of which one is which.

Pretty sure Movies is all done now. Not sure about Music. And as I said, I don't believe they have an opening date for Sports yet.

Pre Covid-19 the buses at the AllStars serviced all three resorts. Generally in the mornings and park closing each resort had a dedicated bus but during the slower times your bus went to all three. When that happens AllStars Sports was the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off. So if the differences in theming are not a factor, that makes Sports the best choice.

As Dug720 said, the buses are about the same at all the resorts.

The values are going to have one big area with actual ques and a sign for each que, they are not covered where the actual line is, there is a covered seating area outside the line. CBS and CSR have multiple bus stops within the resort. You could be at the first stop, the last stop or any in between so your time to the parks is going to depend on which stop you are at and how many people are waiting and the other stops.

Never pick a resort because of the buses, you can not win with that one unless a covered area is more important than an actual que.

Thank you everyone! I think I tend to overthink these things sometimes. I just wasn't sure if the values tended to have horribly slow bus service. All very helpful replies!

Personally, I hate the bus service at CSR and POR - the multiple stops takes forever and easily add 10-15 minutes to the trip depending on which stop you're at. It's one of the reasons I'll almost always choose one of the values over the moderates. When we stayed at Music last month, we found bus service was pretty good - they seemed to come quickly and we never waited in a really long line. It was the same when we were at Movies back in May. Sports isn't open yet, but all the rooms at Movies and Music that are open have been refurbed.

South depot at POR is first pick up. Preferred rooms are closest, near front, restaurant/store. It’s a lovely resort and has Covered bus waiting area and seating. I don’t think you re going at a particularly crowded time. I’d choose a mid over a value in a heartbeat. The crowds are quite different and the entire Disney immersion/theming/amenity/service is vastly different imho.
safe travels and Enjoy wherever u stay.

Fwiw if you find your mom is getting tired don’t be scared to get a rideshare for your crew. If it’s an off-peak time they’re back to being really cheap. (But not at MK since rideshares have to use TTC so that kinda negates the benefit.)

The benefit of staying at POR or CSR instead of a value resort is that your walk to the bus depot from your resort room can be shorter than the walk from a value room. My daughter has stayed at both POR and CSR and said that the buses at CSR were much better than at POR.

If you want to stay at a value resort than a preferred room would put you closest to the bus depot and food court.

I think POFQ is pretty good, and I usually stay deluxe. At POFQ there is one bus stop, and it is a short walk to any resort building. There isn't deluxe bus service at deluxe resorts.
