PLEASE PLEASE advise us how to go about getting trip ins as insuremytrip will not give us ins for our dvc cruise in sept that we booked with points..tried to explain to them but they say no..do i go with disney or what?

We ended up getting a medical rider through the Insurance Provider Disney Cruise uses - I believe it was Access America. They provided medical coverage and reimbursement for our plane reservations and such for about $100 for two. We got this in case something tragic happens and we needed to be airlifted off the ship - we wanted to ensure the provider we used covered that for DCL.

DVC offers insurance through another provider. I believe it provided coverage for $3 per point. As that wouldn't even cover the "retail" of the trip we are taking we opted not to get this. If I remember, it was over $200 for our 14 day cruise? As this insurance wasn't going to replenish our points but provide a Cash Out - we're determined to get on the Ship!!! We hope we made the right choice, but that's how we did it.

Hope this help! Kevin

Guess that is another one to add to the drawbacks of booking a cruise with points.

Yup, the only insurance I am aware of too is through DVC, and I have never found it to be worth it.

Just remember, even though you are using your points for this cruise, and it may not seem like a great value, just keep saying "This cruise only cost me $75, This cruise only cost me $75, This cruise only cost me $75 . . . "

Is there any reason why you were not able to get the trip insurance offered through DVC? We took a trip on points this past January and were able to get several levels of trip insurance (above just covering our points) -- travel, medical, etc. through DVC's company.

I'm confused. :confused3
