First I want to say thank you for these boards!!! I'm brand new to them and it looks like I found them just in time!

I'm planning a trip in 2003 for my best friend and myself to go to Disney in November. We will both have annual passes so I'm hoping to get an annual pass discount.

My question is: Can anyone give me some helpful strategy tips on how to get a better hotel room or resort for our stay? Our budget is moderate but I'd love to stay in a deluxe for a moderate price....is this possible and how would you go about getting it?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Well your first advantage is that you'll have an annual pass. Sometimes there are great discounts for the resorts, although I wouldn't count on it happening for the exact dates you want. You may need to be flexible.

Some of the AP rates I have gotten were:

$199 for a GV room at the Grand Floridian
$179 for a GV room at the Polynesian
$189 for a savannah room at Animal Kindom Lodge
$89 for a standard room at Port Orleans (although I did not take advantage of this one).

Noe of these included the 11% tax.

You may be lucky to find some standard view rooms at AKL for $139 or Wilderness Lodge for about the same or a little more. Sometime the Contemporary wing rooms come in that low as well.

Check our www.mousesavers.com periodically for information on all sorts of deals, codes and discounts.

Hope this helps!

It depends on your definiton of moderate. Rooms at the AKL are going for as low as $129 or $139 a night plus tax this year. If you can swing that then you could stay at a deluxe if they run good discount deals next year.

If you are looking for $100 a night plus tax then yes the moderate resorts would be more in your budget and not the deluxe. Right now the moderates are going for $89 and $94 a night plus tax with the good discount codes.

First decide what your vacation budget is then take it from there. Mousesavers.com is a great site for discount information. Happy vacation planning. :)

I hope they run similar specials next year. I'll keep the dates flexible so I can take advantage of the good deals.

I'd love to stay at the WL again. Stayed there 2 yrs ago for full price. Obviously before I found these boards! I'm going to OKW in Dec to stay at my brother's DVC place.

I'll take the advice from both of you and try to see whats available...then take advantage of the special. I'm guessing I can move my deposit if I find a better deal later...right???

Yes, you can move your deposit. I did so three times before my February trip! All because of discount information I found on the boards.

I'm glad to hear I can do it...and that others have had success doing this.

I think I could get a really good deal if I keep my eyes and options open.

Did you end up at the same resort you originally planed for or did you go to a different place when you did this changing?

Mlissa88, welcome to the Dis!

I have used both Dreams Unlimited Travel and the DISavers Club in order to save money on my WDW vacations. Dreams Unlimited Travel (the owner of the Dis website) was able to get me AP rates for a few of the resorts that I stayed in during my last vacation, which was the very first time that I was able to get a break on a WDW vacation (yahoo!). I am using DISavers (a part of Dreams Unlimited) for an upcoming vacation and they are saving me almost 10% of the cost of that vacation (plus, I already am getting an additional break via my Disney Club membership). It's nice to be able to save a little something on a WDW vacation. By the way, Dreams will check periodically to see if any new discount rates have been released by Disney and will apply them to your vacation if they have. That is an excellent feature. This is all my humble opinion.
