Hi,

I have been to disney numerous times and know & love most of the restaurants. However, I am taking my mom to disney in February (she hasn't been since I was little) and I am totally lost on where to eat. My mom really can't eat spices. She has a super sensitive stomach and it will cause her trouble. (examples, absolutely no mexican, can't eat the seasoned lamb at outback). I already know Boma's is out, but I really need help with figuring out what is in. So, what was your blandest meal at wdw?

Thanks!
Melissa Carter

What about Canada? They're pretty plain anyway, but when my parents brought my aunt down who can't eat garlic she talked to the waitress and they just made it without anything she couldn't have. Liberty Tree Tavern in MK is also good..pretty much Thanksgiving food, no spices there. :D

Hope this helps!

The Mitsukishi at Epcot wasn't spicy. the food is cooked right in front of you. I recall seeing only saly and pepper go in the food.

My DD5 has stomach issues too and we have to be careful what she eats. All of the chefs have been wonderful about adapting foods to fit her needs or to make her items that are not even on the menu. Just have a note put in your PS and call a few days ahead and talk to the chef.

It would help if your Mom knew exactly which seasonings give her problems. My Mom is highly sensitive to Savory, and I am sensitive to Coriander. Savory is rarely used on Disney property, but Coriander is big at Boma. WDW is very good about knowing exactly which seasonings are used in there full service foods. Also, I'd avoid anything with WDW Barbecue sauce, I can't tolerate it at all.

For a full service lunch at MK, I'd recommend Liberty Tree Tavern, most of their food is plain American style, and if she is a little afraid of the turkey and dressing, they will give her double scoops of mashed potatoes instead of the dressing.

AT Epcot, we're been safe (and enjoy) Akershus in Norway, Chefs (France) and Le Cellier (Canada).

Le Cellier--our favorite place anyway, good basic meat and potatoes

Artist Point--our other favorite place, might be nice as they have allot of very basic, with a few with just a little flavor for the rest of the party. Very nice.

Plaza Restaurant--hamburgers, club sandwich etc.

Most of the buffets have prime rib, potatoes, breads, veggies etc. that would include Chef Mickey, Hollywood and Vine, Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table, Cape May, 1900 Park Faire. The breakfasts are pretty basic too. Plain scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes etc.

Sci Fi--sandwiches

Concourse Grill--steak place

Big River Grille and Brewing Co. --hamburgers

The counter service at Norway has nice sandwiches, rice cream, lefse, soft pretzels, frosted soft pretzels dipped in almonds. Nice basic stuff. We eat there all the time.

I've never eaten at these but I might think, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Beaches and Cream

The one place I'd REALLY stay away from is Jiko. I got sick for a whole night after eating there and I don't even have problems usually. VERY spicy!!!!

When you have any type of special request, be it dietary or any other, always ask to speak with the chef. They will gladly come to the table and discuss anything you need with you. In fact, all the table service menu's now read at the bottom "we will be happy to discuss with you and dietary or special needs."

Have a great time!
