Need help with points, use year etc

I have borrowed points from 2010 and have a reservation at Hilton Head Island in August. I now find out it is during when our girls start school so I have waitlisted for the week before...not too sure if this will work so I looked for someone to swap a ressie. I found someone who was interested in swapping his Marriott reservation on Hilton Head for a DVC reservation at WDW but he does not want to travel until February 2010. Got very excited about this until I really thought about it.

My use year is February.

If I cancel my HHI reservation in August and these are borrowed points I have to use them by January 31, 2010....correct?

If I would make him a reservation with the rest of my 2010 points what can I do with these borrowed points for 2009? Can I use them to take a cruise, RCI exhange...anywhere they can be used in 2010 after January 31? I highly doubt we will make it back by January 2010.

I think borrowed points can be deposited to RCI for later use, but I'm pretty sure there is a minimum amount required. Another option may be to try renting your August reservation for cash. Remember on the DIS Rent/Trade board existing reservation may not be offered by any means; new post, reply to post or PM, until you are 30 days or less from the check-in date.

If you do decide to try to rent the reservation here, please read all the sticky threads on the R/T Board, as the software that manages that board requires very specific posting styles.

Thanks Chuck. I just called and they explained that I could deposit this reservation which is great if I cannot use these points. Thanks again!
