Need Help With Points Question

I must be the only one who can't keep the points rules straight. We are bringing another couple next Mar. 27 - Apr. 3 and want to stay in 2 studios at OKW. Our home is BWV, Oct. use year. If I book BWV at 11 month window, to insure something, and then wait til the 7 month window to try for OKW I will have to put some points back because BWV costs more than OKW. What kind of restrictions will the "put back points" have? I have no 2002 points and have 220 as of Oct, 2003, but 40 of those were banked from this year. We are also in the process of adding 100 points at BWV, Oct use year (new ones from Disney). Since 40 are banked, I can't use those 40 to book a ressie until after Oct. 1, right? By then I might not get what I want (I'm a teacher, no flexibility in scheduling). So I would need to use the new 100 2002 points we are buying and borrow others from '03 and the 40 would probably end up wasted, right? Or is there some way around this? I don't know what my problem is. I get so mixed up on this banking/borrowing stuff, even when I try to read the rules carefully.

Your trip is March 27-April 3 2004

You will be getting 220 points in October that must be used by September 30, 2004. This includes 40 points that were banked from October 2002. They could be used for the above trip.

You will also be making a purchase of 100 points that need to be used by September 30, 2003 or be banked forward. (They could then also be used for the March trip.)

You make reservations at the 11 and 7 months windows irregardless of Use Year. You just need to have points that will be available at the time of your trip.

You can go ahead and book this trip on May 4 to stay at BWV. On September 4, you can try to re-book the trip at OKW and cancel the BWV reservations. You will want to make sure that the 40 points you banked (and possibly all or part of the new 100 points that might be banked) are used first for the reservation. MS usually does this automatically but it doesn't hurt to double-check.

With an October Use Year you have until March 31 of each year to bank 100% of your points. Any points that aren't needed when you switch from BWV to OKW will just be returned to you as regular points. You can either use them for another trip or bank them into October 2004.

Wow! Thanks for the fast and thorough reply! I wrongly thought that a ressie using banked points could not be made until the new use year had arrived. It sounds like I don't have the problems I thought I had ^) I appreciate your willingness to take time to answer my question with such patience.
