A friend of mine is going thru a divorce, she just got an apartment in the same part of town so her son could stay in the same school, but she couldn't find anything that would take pets.

They adopted a dog a couple of years ago, the woman said if you can't ever keep her call me. The place at that time had people to foster the pets, now they have a shelter. She just can't bring this dog to a shelter, and see the dog put in a cage. She is checking with someone in the family to see if they will take the dog, but she doesn't think that will work out.

I have been around this dog, she is such a wonderful dog, very well behaved, left alone during the day with free roam of the house.

I told her I would post here and see if anyone knows of a place that would foster a pet in a home until it is found a permanet home. She is so upset and just wants this dog to go to a loving family.

Thank you for any suggestions

I can't help out with the fostering, but if can you post a pic or two of the pup it may help to tug at some heart strings :goodvibes

Sorry :(. I have pets that are part of the family. We rented with 2 cats and a puppy. Finding a place that can take pets is do-able, although it is not easy. I understand the need to reduce stress while going through a divorce ... but I wouldn't rent a place where my pets were not welcome. I hope you can help her dog in this bad situation.

she can't at all find a place that'll take the dog? I am just thinking about her son mostly, the divorce and moving out of his familiar home will already be difficult enough for him, and then they have to part with the dog? That's a lot of changes for a child! If it was me, I would do anything to find a place that takes the dog. Is it a big dog, or small?

Wish I could help!

She needs to do research about foster groups in her area. Sometimes they may not be close by, but a lot of places have doggie rescue groups. I volunteer for a doggie rescue group in my area. I also have a foster dog. They are out there, you just have to search for them.

Is this a specific breed? If it is, have her search on line for a rescue group. We got our dogs from a Border Collie rescue group in upstate NY. My one dog came all the way from AZ!
Good luck with everything. Divorce and moving are rough enough without having to give up the family pet.:grouphug:

Trust me if she could keep the dog she would, with the stress of everything going on. Her main goal was to keep her son in the same school. Where we live it depends on what part of town you live in and what school you go to.

Alot of places that rent by us don't except dogs.

Thank you everyone else for the replies.
