Need Help with NYC Trip!

Here's my sitch: I am going to NYC in Dec with someone special . We will each plan one day of activities. My day is a saturday. The only thing I have so far are 7:30 pm tickets to the Rockettes. Yes, I KNOW it's touristy and cliche (not unlike WDW), and I can't wait!

What I *really* need is DIS for NYC! So I'm doing the next best thing and calling on DISers who know NYC and can understand my compulsion to plan a well-choreographed, Magical day to give me some ideas.

The basics are: We have both been to NYC but not together, so it's not as important that we do completely unique things. We are both well-traveled and have broad tastes, although he tends to be more conservative than me. Romantic things are good, Christmas things are good, a nightclub that doesn't get too wild would be good, maybe even one with 70's music. And boat rides are good!

So help, y'all!

I just went to NYC this past sunday for a broadway show - Mama Mia! We went to a GREAT place for dinner which is VERY conscious of show times and your need to get out in time to get to the show. It's called Becco's on W. 46th between 8th and 9th. The food reminded me of my last trip to Italy. It was just amazing italian food. They have a two course special for $21.95 pp which the first course is a caesar salad or antipasto platter - I would highly recommend the antipasto; and the second course are all you can eat pasta - three different pastas - different each day. The day I was there, they had a veal lasagna, pesto pasta and marinara - YUM! For a little more, you can get a meat course as well. It was AMAZING!

Also, at rockefeller center (30 rockefeller I believe) they just opened up this past week their top floor (kind of like the top of the Empire State Building) - I would look up Rockefeller center on the internet to check it out.

I would also recommend Mama Mia! It was amazing and men and women both REALLY seemed to enjoy it.

Well I guess it all depends on how much $$ you have to spend - Since you are going during xmas season, you have to see the tree at rockefeller center, you could also go ice-skating there, which can be very romantic. A horse and carriage ride is also a VERY romantic thing to do - a nice dinner at a restaurant, can be a very nice one, or just a touristy one. My dh is a sergeant in manhattan so if you need any directions, info, just ask!!

Always worth the trip at 5th Avenue & 55th Street. Enjoy Mulberry & Canal Street Vendors, only place you can get a rollox for $15. Dessert at Ferrara's in little Italy while your shopping is to die for.

Cruises available at 42nd & 12 ST. Didn't say were you were staying? The hotels have city guides & ny where. As for food there's many on each block. I usually stay at the travel inn at 42nd Street between 10th & 11th 1 block from the Lincoln Tunnel 2 blks from the bus station. Very Cheap Newly refurbished.

Favorite eatery's Gallagher's for steak or Rosie O'Grady's, The stage Deli Makes amazing Huge sandwiches (834 7th Ave) Have you ever eaten at a brazilian Riodizio Dining they walk around with huge pieces of meat seven different kinds and they carve it at the table and keep coming till you put up a stop sign always worth at least once to experince it.(Churrascaria Plataforma at 316 W 49th Street

My best tip for dining is to get out of mid-town (very touristy), wander the neighborhoods and have dinner there ~ much better prices, food is better, and you get a real feel for The City.
