I'm hoping some smart dis'er will have some suggestions for us!:goodvibes

When we bought our home 10 years ago(it was built in 1875) the sump pump was plumbed into the sewer line. It is still that way.
However we have just been informed that we are not allowed to have it that way anymore due to new laws so it is now considered illegal.:scared1:

The problem is that the sump pump is located in the right front corner of the basement and we have no way to hook up a PVC pipe to have it discharge out of the front of the house due to having a cement front porch and on the right hand side we are connected to another home as we are a twin. The only option we have is to run the PVC pipe all the way to the other side of the house or out the back of the house. This is a pretty far distance and we are worried that the sump pump might not be strong enough to pump it up to a PVC pipe at the basement ceiling and then go another 20 feet to the side or back of the house and then pump it up and out of our basement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In our old town pretty much everyone had a sump pump. Many people had the pipes snaked through their basement ceilings so the discharge tubes went where they wanted them. In our old house we had our tube snaked from the back of the house to discharge in the front so we could put the outside hose in the street (legal) if we wanted. It was also illegal in our old town to have it discharge through the plumbing.

We had the black PVC or whatever pipes in the house and a flexible hose outside. A plumbing company CAN drill through the cement if you want the house out the front, you just need to fill the excess with that foam stuff. It is probably more cost effective to run through the basement if you have access-drop ceiling or unfinished.

Make sure your sump has a back flow stop or whatever it is called so the water that is left in the pipe doesn't just go back into the hole. There will be water in the pipes as the pump stops and starts but the pump and the water pressure will take care of that. I would make sure you have at least as 1/2 HP pump though.
