We are planning a trip to WDW on April 18-25. We were only planning on staying at WDW the 18th-22nd and than moving over to Nickelodeon Suites for the remaining day. I have been reading a lot about the 4/3 code and am getting confused on how to book my rooms.

We are planning on staying at POR or ASMU suites for the 4 days but would really love to stay at the Poly if the 4/3 code comes out. Would you just go ahead and make a reservation at the POR or ASMU now for the dates I want and if the codes come out, call and see if I can upgrade and change the reservation? And if so, do I need to make my reservatios through Disney to be able to change the reservation?

Thanks so much, we are a family of 5 and we are celebrating my twins 7th birthday there.

Definitely book something you want now. There's no telling if any 4/3 deals will be offered next year, and if you wait to see, you could end up with no room at all.

So book now, watch the boards, subscribe to the Mousesavers newsletter - she sends out the codes when they come out, and if something is offered, jump on it right away and cancel your original reservation.

Yes, if you can afford the deposit.

No, but if you use a travel agent, you have to cancel or change it through your travel agent.

Just keep in mind that no one knows if the 4/3 deal will come out again; it may not!

It's a $200 deposit no matter where you make the reservation if you book a package. If you are more worried about getting a room at the Poly vs. a room at POR or ASMu (thinking availability) then I would book for Poly. You could always downgrade at no cost (so long as you are outside the 45 day window) if you don't get a deal that makes Poly affordable for yourself.

You can book the res yourself, or like another poster mentioned use a TA. However, if you use a TA, make sure you find one that specializes in Disney, and will be looking for those great codes & will apply them to your reservation when they come out. They should be doing this for you... so you don't have to sweat over keeping up with the announcements of great deals.

And BTW, never pay a TA for their services... Disney pays their commission. ;)
