Need help with hotel recommendation

Having never been to Florida (and being from CA) I am totally overwhelmed with picking a hotel. Here is the deal: we are only staying three nights and I'm looking for the following things:

-hotel close to the park with free shuttle
-suite type room (separate living room/bedroom)
-free breakfast in the morning
-pool
-laundry facilities on site
-close to restaurants

If you've stayed somewhere like this, would you mind sharing. Thanks!

I liked the Amerisuites on SR 535. The rooms were clean, rates were reasonable, shared pools with Country Inns & Suites so you really had 2 main pools to choose from. Mini golf onsite. Free breakfast, shuttle to parks..

With the exception of the Downtown Disney resorts, the "free" shuttle service from most isn't very hospitable.
Typically, there are a few runs in the morning, and a few runs in the evening. Sometimes they stop at other properties as well. From my experience it can take a long time to get back & forth... Since it is your first time at WDW, you might want to consider an alternate way to get back & forth to the parks.

You might consider renting a car, you can get an econo car for around $40 per day. Check the transportation board if you decide on utilizing the hotel shuttle. I'm sure they can offer some advice.

We have stayed at Vistana before, and liked it very much. Mary at mousesavers.com also suggests Caribe Royale, Buena Vista Suites, and the Doubletree Suites in DTD.

Hawthorne Suites on Canada Avenue in Orlando. They had clean room and a excellent free breakfast and shuttles to WDW.

Thank you for the replies. I ended up choosing the Doubletree Suites, mainly because of the shuttle issues mentioned. We just stayed in one near DL earlier this year so I know they're nice and I love that its so close!
