I am trying to plan our first trip to disney and have a couple questions. Can you get adjoining rooms at River Side ? I was pricing Villas but they are $2400 higher than 2 rooms at river side and I have heard that was a nice resort. Also for crowds which would be best April or May ? I was thinking April 14 - 20 would that be a good time ? thanks in advance. I have already read so much good information on this site, look forward to learning more. I am so excited to finally be planning our trip to Disney. It will be my husband and myself along with our 7 year old daughter and my parents. All of our first trip.

I can answer your first question, yes POR has connecting rooms. As for the
month, I've been in May, and the crowds aren't too bad. It also gets up into the nineties, but low humidity. As for April, it could be rainy, and it's also spring vacation for the schools, so maybe it will will be busy at the time you want to go.

Disney Virgins !! How exciting !!!:lovestruc:cloud9:

Enjoy planning !

I believe crowds would be better in May. I usually go Easter week and it is MAD ! DH is a teacher so thats the only option. I've also gone in May for mothers day the crowds are less than. In NY schools are off either week before Easter and week after...Don't make that your first time.
POR is a great resort. Nice boat ride to DTD alot of pluses. I would do the two rooms there.
Everyone is sure to have a wonderful time ! Planning is one of the best parts

Thanks for the information. looks like we will be going in May sounds like the best for us and riverside is sounding better all the time. I am so excited !!

When you're booking make sure you ask for what you really want: Adjoining rooms just means that the rooms are next to each other or very close. I'm guessing that you actually want connecting rooms which are rooms with a connecting door between them.

I would go in May for sure! April, aka spring break, is one of the most crowded times of the year. Prices are usually higher as well. Happy planning! One trip and you'll be hooked!

April is one of the busiest times of the year. From what I understand, there aren't a lot of promotions for that timeframe b/c of how busy it is. I was originally planning on hitting WDW in April of 2012, but once I did the research, decided against it. We just went in May of 2011. It was wonderful. We didn't encounter high crowds except on Saturday of Memorial day weekend, which was also Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios, so we expected it. It was a fantastic time to go. The weather was hot, but not too hot. We were able to swim comfortably in the evenings (and actually I got a little cold most nights, so I ended up in the hot tub most nights). We did a split stay at POR and CSR, and it was our second time at POR. We love it there! I will totally book there again. If you tell them that you would like connecting rooms if they are available (they don't usually, or maybe even ever guarantee requests), and also tell them you are a family needing two rooms, they do their best to get the request to happen for you. We've always been able to get the connecting rooms. POR is just lovely.
