Hi, I really hope someone can tell me how to do this. Don't want to sound crazy but I'm not real familiar with editing programs-just starting to experiment with it. I have seen some tutorials on how you can use an image as its own background-the background is a color you choose-mostly neutral color and then you put another copy of that same photo on the background-just smaller and in color. It shows how to do this in Adobe Photoshop 7 but I have Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2-how do I do that process with this program???

You will have to have separate "Layers" for each phase of the photo. One for the background and one for the foreground. With layers you can shut each one off so you can edit the layers.

I have been using GIMP for graphics, but have not tried it for photos.
I have been pleased with it for my uses so far, and cannot beat the price (It's Free)
It has been a great learning tool for me, in that I would hate to have bought a program, and found out that I did not stay interested in the process.
Has anyone ever used it for photos?

I tried doing the multiple layers in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 but it doesnt want to let me put one on the other-just wants to merge them together and thats not what im wanting to do. I will try to find the tutorial link and post it so someone can maybe instruct me on how to do it with my program. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I have found that if you set the opacity to something like 30% on the backgrounds you can get the desired effect (you might have to have a solid color set as a background to your background-make sense, separate layer).
You must have the background layer lower on the order to have it set as a background.

Merging is the only way you can set the picture as a JPEG or PNG or whatever format you like. If you keep a copy in the native format .PSP then yoou can go back and edit whenever you want.
