Hi,

I need some info about the Dune Buggy tour.....My FH is 6'5"...would he fit in the dune buggy? Also, do you need to be able to drive a stick shift? (My FH can but I cant) And lastly.....Would be have to share a buggy with another couple being that there is only 2 of us? Thanks in advance for your help.

Heather

PS... Has anyone gone on the Glass Bottom boat ride thru Shoretrips? and Do you think we would be better off with the Jeep excursion?

Thanks

We just got back from the Western Cruise and did the Disney Jeep Tour in Cozumel. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. We also saw people doing the dune buggy tour. The one advantage I can see with doing the Jeep Tour is that if it is as hot a day as it was for us, with the Jeeps, you can put the material roof up which shades you from the sun.

They recommend you be able to drive a standard with the Jeep tour but the do have some automatic jeeps.

Whatever you decide, the tour through the jungle, to the ruin, to the beach and then back through the jungle is one that is not to be missed.

I think you must know how to drive a stick for the Dune Buggies. Depending on how many people sign up will determine if you must share. I have heard you can request your own and they try to accomodate that request. cozumelhomes.com has answers and an email and telephone#. give 'em a call.

We are doing this excursion when we go in Jan 2006.

We did this tour in march. My husband is 6'4" and 300 lbs. He fit fine. Of course as it is anywhere, he had a little trouble getting in and out, but once seated, he did fine.

Yes, someone in the party must know how to drive stick shift or you will be stuck in the back of someone elses buggy. We drove alone. There was another younger couple that wanted to drive alone, but neither drove stick shift and so they got stuck in the back of a buggy driven by an older gentleman and his wife. They drove terribly slow and cautious and we thought the younger couple would have had a better time riding with us.

One note for anyone going, my husband drives heavy equipment, snow plows and trucks for a living (highway dept) and he said that if you just keep the buggy in 1st gear the entire time (after you get onto the sand paths) you will have an easier time driving. No real need to shift. The buggies are made to handle this and we drove through the sand traps and coral outcroppings with ease, where those trying to shift through everything were getting themselves stuck often. Just thought I'd share that bit of info with you.

We really like the dune buggies and after seeing those in the jeeps, were so glad we chose the buggies. They're just different and more fun to drive; we did spinouts and hit some bumps fo fast we laughed so hard we almost wet our pants! (they let you go as nuts as you want!). The Jeep tour was basically riding in a regular jeep/car. Just didn't look as much fun. We did see a ATV four wheeling group that looked like it was a lot of fun also. We may try that next time! But I would definitely do the Buggies again!

Do you think that this is something that an adventurous 3 yr old would be able to handle? My ds 6 really wants to do this but was unsure about my 3 yr old. Any opinions would be great.:wave2:
