Need help with BWV room request

fyi:) , BW view is now a booking catagory, not a request (there are 3 catagories: standard view, preferred pool/garden view, preferred BW view). & a "tidbit": BW view can only be booked with points, never cash.

I was not aware of that - thanks! Interesting that only DVC members/guests can book BW-view rooms... can guests paying cash still request BW view? The DIS's point charts only list standard and preferred points; any idea where I can see how many points are required for BW-view rooms?

The only way you can get a BW view for cash is to stay in the BWInn, not the villas. BWview rooms are the same as preferred. Just a specific preferred view that is now bookable.

Wow, that's very, very cool. No increase in points and, presumably, more boardwalk-view availability at BWV for DVC guests/members.

So you don't have to wait until 4 to check in. It's just that that is usually when the room has to be/will be ready. We should be able to check in as soon as we arrive?

As long as you don't arrive before 6AM, you can check in, get your room IDs and parking pass. Then hit the theme parks and have fun.

Okay, Lewis, I get that.

I understand about not checking in before 4. Let me ask you this--we will definitely get there before then; so what do we do about parking, etc. while we use our first day ticket? Can we go ahead and park at the Boardwalk until we can check in? Do you know how this works? I know people on magical express can go ahead and be dropped off at the parks before check in. Thanks for the info!
When you get to your resort, BW, just checkin. If your room/villa isn't ready, leave your bags with Bell Services and they can be brought up to your room/villa when it is ready and you are in it.
If you are driving in, just checkin as anyone else would. I'm not sure what you mean when you say that people on magical express can go ahead and be dropped off at the parks before checkin....magical express doesn't go to the parks. As long as you have your park passes, you can go to the parks.
I routinely get to my resort (BWV and others) before my room/villa is ready. DME usually has my checked luggage so I just leave my carryon bag with Bell Services and checkin. My villa is seldom ready before 4:00, so I just go off to a park at that point and return later to get into my villa.

That's just what I wanted to know! Thank you all so much for the helpful information!!:flower3:

I've stayed at BW with Boardwalk, pool, and standard views. IMHO, I prefer the standard view...for one thing, it uses less points and it is not as noisy as the boardwalk view. We had the 4th floor on our last stay and from the our standard room, ( view of the main entrance area ) saw the fireworks from Epcot. The points for standard is less than the preferred view, so I don't know if you can request for a prefer view....of course, try anyway and the worse the CM can say is no. As many posted, you can check in right away, even if your room is not ready. We always drove from NJ, and has always got our room before the posted 4pm time. Have a great trip !!!:)

Thank you, LoveThe! We are very excited!!

Now, can ya'll help me with let's see....transportation to parks, birthday cakes, which restaurant, etc? hahaha

Check out this link, members.aol.com/InstImpres/boardwalk.pdf. It has a report on specific rooms and can help you decide priorities for room request. Remember not to request a specific room number (Disney will not understand why you want room 4053) but list of priorities; ie view of lake, higher floor, near elevator. List them in order of importance to you.

Have a magical trip!

That's a great link! Thank you! :goodvibes

That's the problem. With a rented reservation, the non-member cannot "use" the member's points and the CM might not be aware of the fact that the member is not on the reservation and upgrade to a preferred view. And then charge the owner for the extra points. I'd be furious if someone I made a reservation for decided they didn't want the view they paid for and asked to upgrade to a higher point view.

Oh, I would NEVER do that!!

The member I am renting from understands view "rules". And I understand non DVC member rules. I would not contact the resort myself. I was/am going directly through my DVC member renter.
