I have the 1.4 version of DING. From what I've read, this version does not work for the "backdoor". I'm not very technical so I don't really understand how it works.

On Flyertalk, NSX listed a URL and said to add your unique installid and cksum.
Is there any way to find the installid and the cksum in for the 1.4 version and add it to the URL that was listed on Flyertalk? If not, what other options do I have? Any help is appreciated :)

If you are not computer savy, I would advise you not to do this, but,if you still want to, ask the person that gave the advice.
What is the purpose of this backdoor?

Disneyldwjr,

It's a way to get Ding fares when you're at work if your company does not let you install the actual Ding link.

I'm trying to help a friend plan her vacation for 11/22-11/28 and right now the regular fares are around $350 - so I need to jump on a ding fare when it becomes available and I don't want to miss it!!

Ah, I see. Quite frankly, and I am NOT being judgmental here in the least, I wonder why (if your company will not let you install ding) you would even attempt to install something like this to your work computer. If they can trace programs installed they can trace this modification.
I certainly understand what you are doing.
Your friend's trip is falling at a very very busy travel time and I would be VERY surprised to see much in the line of Ding fares, but, then again, you may be lucky and I hope that is the case.
My original advice remains the same, ask the person who posted the information for help.
