So we had planned (already booked & paid for) to take the train to LA for our trip. Now I am reading the Coast Starlight is not running it's normal route and I may have to make other arrangements, needless to say I am ticked!

So I am scouring for plane tickets but which airports are closest to CCI/DLR?

SNA, LGB, ONT, LAX, BUR in that order

Don't forget to check out the Kids Fly Free deal from Alaska Air. I don't think your trip has any blackout dates(?) so you may save some money and SeaTac is their hub so there are many flights available.

Also, Long Beach (LGB) is nearly as close as Orange County (SNA).

Closest is SNA, LAX usually has the best last minute rates imo. Good luck, what a bummer to have to deal with last minute...on the upside, soon you will be in DL!!! :thumbsup2

Oh I know!! We had planned to go to the Bay Area via train...and Portland to Sacramento would be via BUS...ummm...NO THANK YOU!! Good thing is they will give you a full refund (no refund penalty like normal).

Good luck! It's not that bad flying into LAX...and they have the Disneyland Resort Express Bus ($30 RT per adult - not sure what the kid cost is). It just takes a little longer getting to the resort.

Yes it totally stinks! I have not received my refund (and I need it to book flights) yet but now am scrambling for flights and transportation to DLR. UGH!

What really bites is we are flying home and I got a great deal at $81 a ticket....I could have gotten that there too if I had know about the train.

What I do is fly into LAX (from what I hear the other one is smaller) and use the Disneyland Express to get from the airport to the hotel. I don't know if you'll be renting a car, but if you aren't, I've found DE to work for me.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, hope you find a way to get it to work!

So I ended up buying flights on Alaska for just over $100 each...not too bad. Because all the flights available got into LAX after 10pm we decided to fly in on Saturday and stay an extra night at CCI. That way we will be all rested for our 5 days at DLR beginning Monday.

I figure we can sleep in and then either go to DTD, Hollywood, beach or hang out at the pool. :beach:

We are spending the following Sat at Legoland and it was cheaper for us to rent a car and drive (then drive ourselves to LAX the next morning) than to take a shuttle. I'll have to check that out for our trip from LAX (as well as everyones suggestions). :car:

My one BIG beef with Amtrak, besides not telling me that the Coast Starlight wasn't running, is they said it could take up to 6 weeks for my refund.:furious: I hope it doesn't take that long.

Anyway thanks for helping! :thanks:

Wow...that's an INCREDIBLE DEAL!!!! As far as the Amtrak refund...ours only took about a week - not sure what that means as far as yours, but hopefully it will be near that timeline (or less).
