Wine opener is an excellent idea too! I love mine....it's called a "rabbit" opener (not battery operated, but it works flawlessly and very fast). Love, love, love, love it!

Many others know much more about wine than me, but just wanted to sent you hugs for loosing your mom. Been there, done that and that first Christmas is very difficult and your thinking of others is very kind. Prayers for a blessed Christmas.

Thank you for all of your ideas. I did end up going out this morning and grabbing a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and then off to Target and got a set of 4 glasses (they said for white wine, so...) Since I'm not a wine drinker I didn't realize there were different glasses for different colors of wine. Learn something new everyday.

Thanks. It's gonna be a hard one for sure. We lost my dad 2 years ago and now this. So now it's just me and my brother and sister. My sister lives 4 1/2 hours away but luckily my brother is 10 mins down the road. Just feels empty now.

As suggested before, you should go with Reidel -if you want to get something nice, they are "THE" wine glass. As far as a nice Chardonnay, find a local wine shop nearby and pop in -they should be able to help you find the perfect bottle in your price range. KJ isn't bad, but you can find it anywhere -it sounds like you want something special. A wine pro at a local shop can help you with that.
