We are trying to decide on a resort for our next trip and would prefer either CBR or POR. Our problem is with the AC units that sit under the windows at these resorts. The last time we stayed in a hotel room with that type AC unit, our toddler drove us nuts changing the settings. We are hoping to go at the end of May when our DD will be about 2 1/2. Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to solve it? Thanks in advance. :D

Yeah, that's the only thing I've been able to think of but will it leave a sticky mess?

Don't look at it as a problem.. look at it as an opportunity to teach your toddler "No" :D

They will be older in May.. I bet it will be fine this time... they have to learn sometime!

Good point.

Take a bottle of Goo Gone with you too in case it leaves any sticky residue you can just clean it off with that and a washcloth.

Of course, why didn't I think of that? I'm pretty sure she will figure out how to peel the duct tape off before it's all said and done. But it ought to slow her down enough for someone to notice what she's up to and put a stop to it or change the settings back so that we don't come in out of the heat to a 90 degree room. :D

Cass, your suggestion is good in theory but we have a family joke about our little darling. I said that when the nice ultra sound lady told us we were getting a little princess, it would have been nice to know in advance that it was gonna be Xena, Warrior Princess and not Cinderella. But you have a point - a lot can change in the next few months. Thanks to you both.

Don't forget the other child proofing goodies. Our 2 year old once locked the bathroom with all our stuff inside. He of course choose the morning we were leaving and running late and we had to leave all our things in there!!!!!

Good luck!!!

If your toddler is like mine, by the time the trip rolls around she will be fascinated by something else that drives you nuts.

ROFL :rotfl: :rotfl:

You got Xena, I got Tarzanette. Mine is pretty good about leaving things alone, as long as they can't be climbed, swung from, or jumped on. Not what I was expecting at all.

The unit is wide enough to set things on, to help conceal the control panel: out of sight, out of mind. The TV remote and flushing the toilet have been endlessly facinating for our littlest Delegate.

Thanks to all of you for the advice and the laughs. And I really need the laughs today since my DH just called a little while ago to let me know he has been laid off. :faint: Oh well, looks like there may not be a trip in the near future afterall. But on the bright side, he does already have some prospects and one or two of them may even make us Florida residents so we're gonna be optimistic. :D (If anybody wants to send a little pixie dust our way, tho, we'd be happy to take it - it sure can't hurt!) Thanks again. :D

I had DD at WDW when she was 2 1/2 and ya know.. she never cared to look for the AC unit. She was too tired by the time we got home even for naps. I think there will be so much fun things going on, it will be the last of her concerns. Between 2 and 2 1/2 its amazing how much they change I think you'll be fine. Have fun!

Our 2 yr old is doing pretty well in potty training. But when she goes poo-poo, she insists on closing the door. I am made to stand outside the door and wait until she says 'all done'. I figure, privacy seems to be important to her during this time so I wanted to respect that.

This worked well until she saw me slide out the 'pan' of the potty and empty the contents into the toilet. The other day, *before she said 'all done'*, she took the pan out and in an effort to dump the contents in the toilet, slung it onto the wall. She then smeared the 'spot' on the wall in trying to clean up and pick up the wayward poo with her hand to put in the toilet. Then, she washed her hands in the toilet bowl. Now, this all was done in approx 10 seconds and when I heard movement, I opened the door to check on her. Needless to say, she was whisked straight into the tub and scrubbed from head to toe. Then, I spent about 1/2 and hour in the bathroom with the bleach. The whole time she was so proud and kept saying 'I flushed the poo. I flushed the poo.'

I wonder if the knobs would pop off? We stay in a rental cabin each year that has the stove knobs on the front. The first thing we do when we enter the room on the first day is take all the stove knobs off and put them out of reach. Then we just replace them to use them and take them right back off.

My 2 yr old and 9 mos old drove me absolutely crazy with the air unit, and also the telephone. Since we weren't expecting calls, we just unplugged the cord so the kids wouldn't call anywhere.

I like the duct tape idea. During the day, we also put the playyard in front of the AC unit so they didn't even see it.

thanks all for the good laughs!!!!!!!!!!!!

our 3 yr. old just turned 3 dec 11th, i have been a stay at home dad with him since 3mos old, very rewarding... 1st 3 mos thought i would kill myself hardest job i have ever had. at 40 yrs old tooo old for this...
my wife & i talk about this sort of thing offen, my dad i would have to say was kinda hard on me, my wifes folks says she never got a spanking for anything her whole life....
i do not want this to sound like i am abuser but have to be ferm with them, & be consistante,... so far our son pretty much does what ever i tell him on either the 1st or 2nd time my wife really has trouble with him, she is a firm beliver in not doing much disapline at all, but he rarely does what mom wants & really gives her a hard time.

i would have to say, just say no & mean NO!! no if & or buts about it.
